Have someone desperately pretending not to be part of the Rich Kids From Bellcius Club! dontkillmebro January 7 2010, 05:48:11 UTC
A year ago, Sara wouldn't have gone to any kind of social function if you dragged her. Things were different now. She no longer felt like she had to push everyone away, and she even let herself have fun once in a while. Maybe a party wouldn't be so bad. Maybe it would even be fun.

When she stepped into the room, though, she immediately started to think that this might not have been such a good idea. It reminded her of home too much, and wait, who was the man standing over there? She hadn't seen him much around the ship, but...

Well, maybe she'd just avoid him. Or maybe she wouldn't be recognized. Hopefully.

Ah, there was someone now - and it looked like she was trying to avoid him, hanging along the wall like that. Well. All the more reason to go investigate, then. He was feeling more or less like his old self for the first time in weeks, and it had him in the mood to prod at people. He approached the young woman, staying just far enough away to keep from popping that little bubble of personal space - if there was one way to put people, himself included, on guard fast, it was getting too close, too soon - and gave her a polite smile. "Hello. I don't think we've been introduced."

Sara looked awkwardly around. Okay, maybe it was fine. She looked different from her old self, after all. She'd just give him the false name she'd been using, and it would be fine.

"Sara Cruz." She nodded and looked away. "You're new, aren't you?"

"More or less - I've been on board about a month and a half, now," Rufus replied, the polite facade staying firmly in place. He had years of practice at social events in the city, and even if she was awkward, he could carry the conversation. "I've somewhat kept to myself, though. Rufus Shinra - it's a pleasure."

Watson arrived ten minutes after seven, having had difficulty with carrying two bottles of wine while attempting to limp with his cane at the same time. The news of a party -- or small gathering, really, as he very much doubted if they even had enough people on board for a proper party -- had pleased him, used as he was to attending officers' celebrations, ship parties, and other affairs, and the Silvana was terribly bleak regarding such things. The doctor supposed it came with a ship full of people with something to hide, himself included, but really, there was no need to forget one's social habits when in hiding.

He entered the room with a quick glance around to see how many people were in attendance so far.

[ooc: Wearing this but in darker colors. Also minus the coat.]

Rufus spotted the doctor making his entrance, and hurried over to give him a hand - those wine bottles were looking a touch precarious. "Here, let me give you a hand with those," he said with a smile. The friendly doctor had earned a certain degree of respect from Rufus for keeping silent after the little slip of his guard he'd had during that last bad spell. He still wasn't certain if he'd appreciate the company of the still somewhat-mysterious John W., but it was worth a try.

"Thank you," he replied pleasantly, smiling in delight as he took a good look at the spread. It was probably one of the grander dinners the ship had seen since Zhang He's after-renovation gathering. The ship was still looking rather purple from that event. "I brought the wine to add to your selection. It's good for the crew to attend these parties once in a while." Might keep them from becoming too anti-social.

"And I have to say, you're looking quite dashing, yourself." That was as far as he would go to commenting on Rufus' recovery in health.

"The gift is appreciated, thank you. And I hope everyone enjoys the evening," Rufus replied, getting a better hold on the two bottles of wine. "Not quite the sort of party you'd find in the city, but with any luck, it'll be less tedious."

He inclined his head slightly at the compliment - not quite a bow, not with the bottles in hand, but the meaning was clear enough. "Thank you - tails not not really my style, but they suit the occasion." He knew full-well what the doctor had really meant, but he was not in the mood to bring his health up right now.

While she did want to see what other sort of people crewed the Silvana, Tank Girl was also busy making herself presentable. After more nicks and scrapes with her straight razor than she really had bandages for, her scalp was shaved again, save for a blonde lock trailing down around her face on either side, right over her eyebrows. With a final scowl into her mirror, she plunked her helmet down on her head, and tromped on down to the party for some grub.

"Fancy, fancy!" she exclaimed when she spotted the spread. Grabbing a plate without asking anyone first, she loaded it up with food, mostly of the sugary and dessert sort, and found a place to sit. Ignoring the chair, she sat down directly on the edge of the table and dug in.

[OOC: And our lovely gunner is dressed something like this. Yes, topless. Yes, with the strategically placed tape. Have fun. ^_^]

Well, this was certainly...unexpected. Rufus had to admit privately, though, parties in Bellcius would have been a hell of a lot more interesting with gatecrashers like these. No doubt the half-nude woman who had stomped her way in and taken a seat in the middle of things offended the sensibilities of at least some of his other guests, but all the better - it threw them off-guard, forced them out from behind the polite masks. He liked that. Made things more fun, that way. He wandered over to the newcomer, half-full wineglass in hand. "Enjoying yourself?" By his tone of voice, she could have been just another well-dressed, polite young lady to him.

Tank Girl pondered the question for half a second. "Not yet. I haven't had any booze yet. Gimme a bit of a tipple or two, and then we'll see who's having a good time." She kicked her feet listlessly back and forth, jamming another cupcake in her mouth as she smiled somewhat malevolently at the new fellow.

"Is everybody here quiet and boring, or did I just come on the wrong day of the week?" the gunner asked through a mouthful of sugary goodness.

Rufus gestured at the table of drinks by the side of the room. "Have at, then," he replied, one eyebrow raised in amusement. This woman was quite the character, really - he liked that. Particularly as she seemed like the type who wouldn't take shit from anyone. "Quiet, maybe. Boring...I think not." The smile he gave her matched her own - just a little bit nasty.

Hinamori had figured this would be fun! After all, there'd been... things, and they hadn't been as serious as previous things, but it was good to unwind. Anyway, there were still some people on the Silvana that she didn't know, she was sure, so!

She'd arrived in a pink dress and... shoes that hopefully matched.

Another familiar face - even if it was one he was less interested in prying behind, as the young woman did not seem the secretive sort, it was still polite to say hello. And tonight, at least, he was planning on being polite, the perfect genial host. He greeted her with a friendly smile. "Miss Hinamori - you look lovely tonight."

"Ah, thank you, Mr. Shinra!" said Hinamori, smiling and blushing slightly. "I have to say, this is a really nice party you're throwing."

He shrugged lightly. "I try. It seemed like people needed a bit of fun, and I used to do things like this occasionally back in the city."

Have Another Rich Kid From Bellcius. birdcagephoenix January 8 2010, 23:55:27 UTC
Clothing had not been an issue for Luke, however he was getting annoyed with constantly washing them and pressing out wrinkles - not to mention that he had never cared for the garments at all. They were uncomfortable to do a lot of moving around in, to be honest, and Luke didn't like staying still ( ... )

The food had better smell good. Hikari slaved away for the better part of the day preparing for this meal. Thankfully, she wasn't completely alone; while she was the only official cook in the kitchens, others from the ship had come to help out. Still, it just wasn't the same without Shinjiro in there to lend a hand ( ... )

What was up with the girl with the glasses? Didn't she have any better clothes? Not only that, she seemed like her dog had just died or something. If she had looked any more bummed out, Luke would have sworn she'd never be able to physically smile again. She kind of reminded him of how the maids looks after a particularly busy day at the manor - when they had lots of company over or something.

But his train of thought was quickly derailed. This girl... had wings?! Wings? Luke's critical expression changed to one of surprise as he stood there and gaped for a few seconds. Wings? Was she an angel or something? A fairy? Something else entirely?

Unless it was a costume.
Either way it was different.

"Hmm? Yeah, hi," he managed to utter in between staring.

There was a pause. Luke didn't care if it was rude, he had to ask.

"Uh, hey, are those...?" He slowly gestured with a gloved hand towards the feathery appendages attached to her back.

And now the boy was staring at her. Why was he looking at her like that? Was there still something on her face from the kitchens, or-?

Oh, right, the wings. Of course.

"Real?" she asked. That's what she assumed he meant; after all, that was the first question out of most people's mouths when they saw her. While she was still tired, at least she didn't seem offended by Luke's question. It was something one got used to after a while.
