While she did want to see what other sort of people crewed the Silvana, Tank Girl was also busy making herself presentable. After more nicks and scrapes with her straight razor than she really had bandages for, her scalp was shaved again, save for a blonde lock trailing down around her face on either side, right over her eyebrows. With a final scowl into her mirror, she plunked her helmet down on her head, and tromped on down to the party for some grub.

"Fancy, fancy!" she exclaimed when she spotted the spread. Grabbing a plate without asking anyone first, she loaded it up with food, mostly of the sugary and dessert sort, and found a place to sit. Ignoring the chair, she sat down directly on the edge of the table and dug in.

[OOC: And our lovely gunner is dressed something like this. Yes, topless. Yes, with the strategically placed tape. Have fun. ^_^]

Well, this was certainly...unexpected. Rufus had to admit privately, though, parties in Bellcius would have been a hell of a lot more interesting with gatecrashers like these. No doubt the half-nude woman who had stomped her way in and taken a seat in the middle of things offended the sensibilities of at least some of his other guests, but all the better - it threw them off-guard, forced them out from behind the polite masks. He liked that. Made things more fun, that way. He wandered over to the newcomer, half-full wineglass in hand. "Enjoying yourself?" By his tone of voice, she could have been just another well-dressed, polite young lady to him.

Tank Girl pondered the question for half a second. "Not yet. I haven't had any booze yet. Gimme a bit of a tipple or two, and then we'll see who's having a good time." She kicked her feet listlessly back and forth, jamming another cupcake in her mouth as she smiled somewhat malevolently at the new fellow.

"Is everybody here quiet and boring, or did I just come on the wrong day of the week?" the gunner asked through a mouthful of sugary goodness.

Rufus gestured at the table of drinks by the side of the room. "Have at, then," he replied, one eyebrow raised in amusement. This woman was quite the character, really - he liked that. Particularly as she seemed like the type who wouldn't take shit from anyone. "Quiet, maybe. Boring...I think not." The smile he gave her matched her own - just a little bit nasty.

That smile was a challenge, and one that she was going to rise to. Smiling right on back, she heaved her legs over the side of the table, went over to the alcohol, and grabbed herself a bottle of ale. There were a few left in the corner, and she wasn't ready to get really roaring drunk--not yet, anyway. The party had just started, after all!

She tossed back a couple of gulps of the tasty liquor, then set her bottle down and went back to work on a particularly yummy-looking cupcake. "So, not boring? What d'you do for fun around this place, besides have fancy parties?"

The woman's blunt attitude managed to get a chuckle out of Rufus. "I'm not entirely certain yet - I'm fairly new on board myself. It's a rather interesting collection of people, though." She made that particular list of people herself, but he decided that was perhaps a fact best left in reserve for the moment. Still, it had been a while since he had cause - or for that matter, time - to deal with some of the rougher elements in the city - the crude, no-bullshit stance was refreshing, in a way.

"It's why I make my own fun," Tank Girl concluded, licking frosting from her fingers. "That way, at least one person's enjoying herself." He laughed at her jokes, so he couldn't be that bad, she conceded. At the very least, she didn't feel the urge to punt him across the ship, and that was as close as many people got to actually being friends with her. "So what made you join up? Just bored, or have you got some sort of plan in mind for what you're doing here?"

"Well, consider this party 'making my own fun' on a somewhat larger scale," Rufus replied, giving her a smirk over his wine glass. He was having fun, he realized - far more fun than he usually had at the Bellcius parties. He suspected the guest roster here had something to do with it. "I suppose you could call it boredom - I wanted to take a break from work, and travelling is a great deal more interesting than sitting around the city."

"Well, you look . . . interesting this evening." With an amused grin on his face, Yami came up beside her, a plate of his own in hand, leaned a hip on the table, and privately enjoyed the thought of how immensely scandalized so many people back home would have been had she shown up to one of those parties.

He wondered what Rufus thought of her.

"And you," she responded without much forethought, "look like an utter prat. Been licking a mana crystal, to get your hair to stand up like that?" She did like the look on his face, though. Even if he was a prat, he at least looked one who maybe would know a good time if it kicked him in the face. Without even bothering to introduce herself, she pointed at the beverage table. "Go and get me some tea. Heavy on the vodka."

Yami raised an eyebrow at the first comment. He didn't know what a "prat" was but guessed the comment was meant to be an insult. That or it was an honest assessment and she truly just didn't have any tact. Yami figured it was either the latter or a mix of the two, and let it slide. Unless she was intentionally trying to be hurtful, there was no reason to let her words upset him. He grinned, instead, at the comment on his hair. "One would think, but no. And it's not hair gel, either. Au natural . . . whether I like it or not." He suppressed the grimace that usually wanted to accompany statements on the subject.

The last startled him. What an odd mix. He gave her a grin, arms folded, head tilted a bit. Okay, this one he wanted to hear before he decided to humor her. "Oh? And in what city does tea come with any vodka in it?" He himself wasn't a drinker, but he often enjoyed watching the ridiculous antics of those who did.

That was natural? She'd seen some strange hairdos in her time, but if he were telling the truth, his trumped a lot of them. He seemed game for more than she'd originally taken him for, which was good in her book. Meant that she could push the limits some more, and that was always good for some fun.

"No city's got that good of taste," she replied with a chuckle. "It's a Badlands specialty. Good cup of strong tea, shot or two or vodka," Tank Girl replied, licking her lips at the thought, "and you're in heaven."

Yami laughed. "Yeah, I'll bet." He wondered if Rufus - or anyone else - had brought any vodka.

Deciding to humor her, he excused himself (out of habit) and went over to the wet bar. Heh . . . she's in luck, looks like. He fixed her drink, and got himself a rum-and-coke. He didn't normally drink as a rule, and would like nurse this all evening out of habit, but whatever.

Coming back and offering the mug, he commented with a grin, "Sounds like I should get out and around the Badlands a little more."

Arching an eyebrow as Yami returned with her drink, Tank Girl brought the mug to her lips and drank some of the concoction. She swished it around in her mouth for a second or two before deciding that the ratio of vodka to tea was adequate, then swallowed noisily. "Lots of idiots go out to the Badlands and try to make it over into something it's not. Fucking losers. But if you're tough, and can take the heat, it's positively marvy. No one to get on your case and try and make you go over to Ivona or Vohemar, if you're in the right spot." Nodding to her cup, she added, "S'not bad, for a first shot."

Yami chuckled. "Glad you approve." He tilted his head at her other last comment. "The right spot?" He certainly agreed with the foolhardiness of trying to take on the Badlands and make it something it wasn't. He'd had little to no experience himself, but just on what he'd heard alone, even if only half of it were true...
