Leo had, much to his own displeasure, spent the entirety of this conflict thus far behind the helm of the Victoria II. And even with all his skill and expertise with airships, nothing could change the fact that the massive airship handled like an enormous bloated slug in the sky and simply could not outmaneuver the 4423.

So, when the 4423 decided to board the Victoria II, he almost felt a sense of relief knowing that duty called him elsewhere. Leo was quick to pass the helm off and run out to the deck, where the fighting was already underway.

With sword drawn, cape whipping in the wind and heart already pounding with a warrior's vigor, Leo practically threw himself into the field of battle.

Yuri hit the ground running, so to speak, almost as soon as he'd landed. The Victoria was unfamiliar to him, but he'd been on enough military-style ships that he had a pretty good feel for the layout. Besides, it wasn't exactly hard to follow the sounds of fighting echoing throughout the corridors.

He'd chosen to bring a sword to this particular fight, figuring it would probably work better in the small confines of a ship than his axe. Soon enough, Yuri caught sight of another figure ahead of him in the hallway. The guy was pretty obviously military, if the uniform under his cape - really, a cape? - was any indication. "Hey," Yuri called out, "This way to the fighting, right?"

Beat hadn't intended on joining the fight at first. He was senior Powder Monkey after all, and he was needed at the cannons. But once the boarding started he wasn't really needed. Time to put all that training to the test.

He hit the deck, board out and the kunai he had borrowed clutched in his hands. He needed to be fast, but he still had his sword and Haine's shotgun on his hip and back, just in case.

The young pirate made his way deeper and deeper into the ship, his board letting him move too fast for anyone to catch... yet.

Yes, a cape! There's nothing wrong with wearing a cape into battle!

Leo hesitated when he heard someone call in his direction, ears raised slightly on the alert. He didn't recognize the long-haired man, but given that he was not attacking Leo on sight, it was safe to assume that he was not a pirate from the 4423. That, and Leo's instincts told him that this was someone on his side.

"Of course," he replied, a slight smirk appearing on his face for a moment. "But we should hurry. I doubt they will be saving any action for us if we're late."

HILDA THIS IS FOR YOU. And uh... whoever wants to fight against these two feel free to hop in. :D; secondarcana October 21 2009, 06:49:26 UTC
This wasn't exactly what Yosuke had in mind as a first mission, but well... it wasn't as if it was anything too bad. All they had to do was to bust up a couple of pirates and send them back running, right? That should be simple enough. Besides, it had been a while since he got to exercise Jiraiya, and the brunette wasn't exactly one to let an opportunity like this slip through his fingers.

Twin knives in hand, the teenager quickly got out of the plane with a hurried 'thanks' once it had parked safely into the hangar of the Victoria II and made his way up to the deck where all the action was taking place. His Persona hummed in his mind, more than eager to break a leg along with him after such a long time of being unable to do anything. The chance only quickly came right after he had appeared on the deck and had a few pirates immediately going after him. Yosuke took a moment to sidestep the wild swings directed at his way before he countered with a few strikes of his own, feeling the adrenaline beginning to pound in his blood along to ( ... )

Orihime followed a moment behind Yosuke, but as he rushed into the fray without her she hesitated a moment at the exit from the hangar. It could have been fatal in that clash of swords and smell of blood and gunpowder making a slippery mess on the deck and oh no that wasn't someone's finger at least ten feet away from where he was, but Yosuke was clearing a path through pirates around the two of them.

She herself was unarmed except for Tsubaki, who was more of a way to buy time to run away than anything else (no, I don't want to kill anyone, she snapped at him as he buzzed in her ear that she could make him far stronger if she wanted to), but she needed to keep that boy safe. He was holding his own so far, but she'd heard so many times that no matter how graceful your katas were it only saved you for a minute on the battlefield. Battle deck. Oh, forget the right words, she was not letting anyone get hurt today, navy or crewmates... the only ones in her head right now were the beginning of her kotodama, as she shouted out her ( ... )

It had been a good while since Yosuke found himself in a battle like this, but he was pretty pleased to find that his own skills hadn't dulled in the least. The blades of his knives flashed as the brunette did his best to avoid and attack the pirates that went after him - no serious damages to them, only enough to put them out of commission for a bit. Even if the beat of the battle was more than addicting for him, the teenager knew better than to draw blood. He had promised himself that the only thing his weapons would kill would be the Shadows and the Shadows alone ( ... )

"Just helping you out like you wanted!" she replied as she turned her head to face Yosuke. She backed a half-step closer and kept an eye out for her surroundings, hands up both to guard and direct her friends. She couldn't cover every inch of the both of them every second, but she could at least keep an eye on the boy's back while she was here.

As she turned back to look out for the rest of her crew, Orihime caught the same pirate charging Yosuke from the side, sword flying up to clash against dagger. At her mistress' frantic signal, Hinagiku whizzed up between the two, throwing both the pirate's and Yosuke's arms back from the shield's impact.

After the planes have landed: Yoruichi + Shinji flashstepfeline October 21 2009, 08:01:11 UTC
While it might otherwise have been more strategic to stay aboard the ship, time spent observing and hacking the spate of posts being fired off by the three ships had revealed information of interest to Yoruichi. The Captain's call for fighters had been a perfect opportunity to investigate ( ... )

It didn't take a genius to notice that reinforcements had come in. That other ship -- the Fiertia, if he was remembering right -- finally sent in their own fighters, which meant that the 4423 was probably outnumbered at this point. That was enough to bring Shinji back over one of the planks onto his home deck, sword gripped so tightly in his fingers he could practically feel the blood stop flowing in them. If it was a fight they wanted, it was a fight they'd get.

When he found two seconds to spare, he rolled down his sleeves, not exactly pleased about the loss of his tie as he eased back into the mindset of kicking some reinforcement ass.

Senses keen to her prey, Yoruichi finished her own fight, disarming her opponent and knocking him out with a swift boot to the head rather than slashing at him. Yoruichi prided herself on her 'unarmed' combat skills, but she also did not like to tip her hand when it came to letting others know the extent of her abilities, hence the sword. However, she wasn't going to take that so seriously as to wound someone that much ( ... )

It was quite the understatement to say that Shinji was startled by the sensation of legs wrapping around his neck. No, it was more along the lines of WHAT THE FUCK GET IT OFF, followed by some other curses directed at himself for being caught so off-guard. Surprised, he nearly lost the grip on his zanpakutou as he brought up a hand in some poor attempt to pry the thighs apart. This failed, of course.

He stumbled forward a step or two, trying to catch his balance (and breath), but it was all too sudden and the boy abruptly tipped over, his sword clanging loudly against the deck as he tumbled palmfirst onto the unforgiving wood.

As little as Katsura really cared for the conflict they were currently embroiled in, he was both a quartermaster and a swordsman, which meant that honor and duty compelled him to make an appearance on deck, armed and ready to fight off invaders. Unfortunately, it was remarkably hard to tell friend from foe in the chaos, and Katsura knew nothing about any of the reinforcements coming to their aid.

He'd also failed to remove his pirate costume prior to becoming engaged in the fray. Possibly not the best move he had ever made.

Yamamoto hopped lightly onto the deck of the Victoria II, giving the pilot of the plane he hitched a lift from a cheery wave as it went back to the Fiertia to ostentatiously pick up more help.

Aha! A pirate within five minutes of him getting on board! It really was his lucky day, just like the horoscopes said it would be!

"Oh hey there, Mr. Pirate! End of the line for you I'm afraid!" He greeted the Katsura cheerfully, the Shigure Kintoki held loosely in one hand, still in it's neutral bamboo form instead of a sharp katana.

Pirate? Clearly the poor man was confused as to which side he was on. Maybe he'd made a rough landing and hit his head. Well, that wasn't terribly important, now was it?

"I think not," Katsura replied, unsheathing his sword. It didn't look like this was going to be much of a fight; his opponent wasn't even properly armed.

Confused? Yamamoto wasn't confused at all. He hasn't even hit his head against anything yet. After all, the man in front of him was wearing, an eye-patch, a pirate's hat and a pirates coat! He must be pirate, right?

And it looks like the guy in front of him wasn't going to surrender without a fight. Shrugging, Yamamoto charged forward, Shigure Kintoki switching to it's true bladed katana form mid-swing.

Responsibility. Not too long ago, at least by Jager reckoning, Dimo wouldn't have been paying attention to what the word meant. While he had certainly been a drill sergeant in the past, and had planned out winning battle strategies, this sort of restraint did not come naturally to him. Much as the tantalizing thought of blood and fighting appealed to him, Dimo knew that anyone with half a brain from the naval ship would be coming toward the navigation room. All of the 4423's charts were there, as well as the courses that he was planning for their next escapade.

The Jager bloodlust tore at him, but he had orders from Madame Captain herself right now. No one was getting in here if he could help it.

Mamori rushed throught the ship's narrow corridors with a box of files in one hand and a broom for unforseen circumstances in the other, trying not to step on the rim of her skirt in a hurry.
She shot out of the records room the first signs of a battle and now she was desperatelly regretting not paying extra attention to the ship's plan. How embarasing, getting lost on the first given oppportunity! The last thing she needed right now was to meet somebody hostile.

Mamori grabbed the nearest door handle and pushed, meeting face to face with a Jager. And he didn't seem too friendly.

She certainly didn't look like an invader. Though the young woman in front of him hadn't said a word yet, Dimo did remember her coming on board. That, and anyone who clearly looked lost, with a broom in one hand and a box of paperwork in the other, wasn't likely to be from the enemy ship.

"Hyu looking for a place to keep dem tings?" he inquired gruffly, stepping back half a pace from the doorway to indicate that he wasn't going to impede her entrance. "Dere's an empty space in de big drawer of dot desk back in de corner. Hyu can put dem dere," he said, then added with a dangerous smile, "und den come over here und help me defend de room. Mamori have seen Jagers before. There were a number of them around when she was traveling to Vohemar, mostly doing mercenary work for whoever paid better. For some reason, 4423 seemed to be packed with them, which left her questioning the safety of the ship.
She looked around, noticing the navigation systems and maps pinned on the walls. The Jager eyed her suspitiously.
"Yes, of course. That's very kind of you. Forgive my manners, I haven't intoduced myself. I'm Mamori Anezaki. You might have heard, I'm 4423's new records keeper." She put the box on the floor and closed the door. "You seem to understand the situation a bit better than I do, so do you mind if I ask, why are we bording an Ivonian battle cruiser?" Her face, rather concerned while she spoke, suddenly turned grim. "HE came up with this idea, didn't he?"
