In sharp contrast to Laharl's ridiculously oversized sword, the Nightmare had brought more modest weapons with him: a baseball bat and a yo-yo. The red one from Rhyme, to be exact. He vaguely knew who Laharl was. Overlord Laharl was the one who barged into Ness' date with Joshua that one time with the tasty noodles. It didn't seem like Ness liked Overlord Laharl very much.

"Hi," he greeted, bounding up onto the deck like a child. "Thank you for playing with me!"

Wait a second...Laharl *knew* this guy. He'd been hanging around with that jerk, at the noodle shop...and he'd seemed really moody. Maybe this was how he relaxed?

Well, whatever it was, Laharl approved. "Back when I was in the Netherworld, I'd have to make sure my vassals had the things they needed. If their pet zombies got lost, I'd find them. If there were ghosts haunting them, I'd beat the hell out of the ghosts.

"I don't own the Way or anything, but if I just sat around doing nothing, I'd be a pretty crappy Overlord." He hefted his sword. "And I'd be the lamest kind of demon if I turned down someone who's actually got their blood up for once!"

He shifted his sword into an attacking stance. "You better be ready...because it's TIME TO START! HAHAHAHAHAHA!" Continuing to laugh, he propelled himself forward, ready to swing at the smiling kid.

"...but I'm not your vassal," the Nightmare managed to say before Laharl lunged at him. He also wanted to say that he wanted a pet zombie too, but Laharl had already started laughing.

Overlord Laharl, the Nightmare noted. has a funny laugh.

As Laharl drew close, the Nightmare quickly knelt down and pressed his hands against the wooden floorboards of the Winding Way's deck. And when Laharl was close enough, he sprung up to try to tackle him.

Laharl saw the tackle coming and twisted himself around to dodge it. Slightly unexpectedly, this caused the tip of his sword to drag along the deck of the ship, which sent him into an unplanned flip. He landed gracefully enough and give his opponent a glare that said "I meant to do that, and I *dare* you to call me on that.*

"Yeah, I know. Doesn't mean I can't still carry out my duties as an Overlord...if I didn't, it'd just be...IRRESPONSIBLE!" He punctuated the last comment with a burst of will and a stab of his blade; fire began to blossom around where Nightmare stood.
