TWO SHOTA ENTER, TWO SHOTA LEAVE (we hope) )
"Hi," he greeted, bounding up onto the deck like a child. "Thank you for playing with me!"

Well, whatever it was, Laharl approved. "Back when I was in the Netherworld, I'd have to make sure my vassals had the things they needed. If their pet zombies got lost, I'd find them. If there were ghosts haunting them, I'd beat the hell out of the ghosts.
"I don't own the Way or anything, but if I just sat around doing nothing, I'd be a pretty crappy Overlord." He hefted his sword. "And I'd be the lamest kind of demon if I turned down someone who's actually got their blood up for once!"
He shifted his sword into an attacking stance. "You better be ready...because it's TIME TO START! HAHAHAHAHAHA!" Continuing to laugh, he propelled himself forward, ready to swing at the smiling kid.

Overlord Laharl, the Nightmare noted. has a funny laugh.
As Laharl drew close, the Nightmare quickly knelt down and pressed his hands against the wooden floorboards of the Winding Way's deck. And when Laharl was close enough, he sprung up to try to tackle him.

"Yeah, I know. Doesn't mean I can't still carry out my duties as an Overlord...if I didn't, it'd just be...IRRESPONSIBLE!" He punctuated the last comment with a burst of will and a stab of his blade; fire began to blossom around where Nightmare stood.

"It looks like you made marks in the deck," he said before swinging. "I don't think Ryuzakikiki will like that."

Confidently, he moved to grab the bat with his off hand. It was time to use his superior demon - and Overlord - strength to his advantage. Hopefully the kid would have enough sense to drop the bat after Laharl grabbed it and counterattacked; he didn't think the crew would take him splitting someone in half so well.
[ooc: feel perfectly free to do something PSI (or otherwise)-nasty to Laharl, he's being way overconfident and needs to be dropped down a peg :3
also lol fail at right journal

That was painful. Overlord Laharl must keep his swords very sharp.
However, he was a nightmare. He didn't react to pain the same way his human counterpart did. As if his arm wasn't injured and bleeding, he thrust his left hand forward and grabbed Laharl's face.
"Look, look, I can use fire too!"
And he channeled PSI into his fingertips and converted the energy into fire.

He didn't even consider that, had he not had his demonic fortitude, he's probably have considerably less of a head now. Instead, soot-stained and smoldering, he shoved the Nightmare back and snarled, "Yeah, well let's see you deal with this!"
Concentrating harder, he called forth a Mega Wind spell. Gale-force winds buffeted his opponent...and also sent a few barrels skidding across the deck at him. That was a happy accident.

Staying down managed to allow him to cope with the winds, but it did nothing to stop the barrels flying his way. Two of them bounced off the deck and sailed over him, but a third was headed straight for his head. If he didn't do something...well, it wouldn't be very fun for him.
The Nightmare stared at the barrel and concentrated, and it slowed before stopping in midair. Ah, telekinesis. Such a fun and useful ability. The Nightmare giggled and sent the barrel straight towards Laharl.

Well, whatever. He had some good fight in him, certainly better than anything Laharl had run into in a while. Grinning, he slashed the incoming barrel in half, raining large fish all over the deck. The smell was...considerable.
As much to escape the stench as to begin an attack, Laharl leapt high into the air. "See how you like a Burning Knuckle!" Channeling energy into his hand until it literally glowed with flame, he prepared to rocket down at the Nightmare.

Now, while the Nightmare had a high tolerance of pain, he had no intention of taking a hit from this "Burning Knuckle" thing. He scuttled away from Laharl's fist, but did not expect to be caught in a blast. The force pushed him halfway across the deck and with quite a few burns and injuries.
Well. There was no way he could avoid his wounds any longer, so the Nightmare once again channeled PSI into his hand, but this time, he used the energy to begin healing himself.

Pushing aside such unworthy thoughts, he gathered up more energy. The air above the nightmare froze into a block of ice; maybe it would knock out the weird kid while he was concentrating on healing himself.

"I wasn't finished healing," the Nightmare pouted, finally taking the chance to heal up the cut on his left arm. But he had lost a considerable amount of blood from it and he was starting to feel dizzy. He lifted his hand to lick some of the blood off. "Fine, if that's the way you want to play...let's play!"
Shaking off the dizziness, he concentrated again, this time sending a blast of pure PSI energy straight at Laharl.

He vaguely wanted to rub his face and his back at the same time, but that wouldn't be dignified at all...even if his opponent was licking his own wounds. Maybe there was something genuinely wrong here; he didn't really know Ness well at all, but this behavior seemed way too unlike what he'd seen at the noodle shope.
He'd just ahve to beat it out of him.
Laharl hopped onto the railing, leapt into the air, and with a swing of his sword, sent a scything blade of air at the Nightmare.

And then he took a direct hit from Laharl's attack. With a cry of both pain and surprise, he was blown back, bouncing on the deck twice before skidding to a stop.
Oh, that...that was...unacceptable! He tried to get up, but could no longer summon the strength. He tried to focus once again, but the dizziness had return. Growling, he merely stayed where he was, utterly defeated.

...perhaps he'd overdone it?
Cautiously - you can never be so certain that it wasn't a ruse - he approached his downed opponent. When he got a few feet away. he stopped, and gently prodded him with the tip of his sword.
"Can't get up? We should stop, then - no fun in beating up someone who can't move."
