I think the trickiest part of choosing a champion for me would be the stipulation that it be somebody who hasn't been involved in this season. I believe I would pick someone like my friend Danielle Ackley-McPhail (damcphail), who is a terrific SF/Fantasy writer, uses humor well, and is actually still active on LJ!

She is also a terrific person with a generous heart who never fails to make me smile.

I should add that, if I had to pick a champion to stand for me in real life, it would undoubtedly be my sister, who is amazing, has a great bond with KFP and could easily step into the lurch for me in all areas in my life. If only she didn't live four hours away!

I'll be honest, I wasn't thrilled about the idea of the champion round, at least this late in the game. The fact that I'm going head-to-head against the amazing kickthehobbit might have something to do with that, because if there was ever a time when I did not want to have to rely on someone else (and, you know, be judged for something mostly out of my control), now would be it.

Now that I've got my champion sorted out, I feel much better about it. Still --it was awkward to call someone up out of the blue and tell them, "Hey, you need to create an LJ account. And write a really great story. In two days."

IRL, my champion would be my SO. For the usual reasons.

My real life champion and idol champion are the same. I will always count on my SO Nate. He's super pumped to write something and he's an amazing writer so I'm excited to share. Writing is how we first started talking. He's pretty anti social media, so I'll be sharing his piece from my journal, but I can't pick a better person to be there for me.

I do know where my champion is! Now I just have to finish writing a thing that'll be worth championing... heh...

I would have a hard time choosing a Real Life champion. I think my friend Deanna, who stopped me from flailing yesterday and reminded me that other people are happy to step up for me if I need it, is at the top of the list right at the moment. Asking people for things is hard. And sometimes I have to accept the current theme of things being 'challenges' and do the hard things and get the hell over it. Heh ( ... )

It's hard to pick a Real Life champion without knowing WHAT they would be doing. But if I had to pick someone to do anything on my behalf, it would definitely be my husband. I trust his judgment, and his brains, and his compassion - and I trust him to know me and what I would want, and to do his best to carry that out.

He also has a cute butt, and that has to count for something.
