I'm with you - open topics are killer for me. A big part of the reason I hopped onto the Idol bandwagon again this season is because I wanted those prompts; when left to my own devices, I can be a little scattered...

I actually have had a singular line bouncing around in my head for the past several weeks and haven't had a chance to use it for anything, so I'm considering telling myself that line is my "topic" and I need to write something for it (at the very least to get it the heck out of my head).

As for the topic, I perfectly remember that yesterday while mowing my endless garden I had a wonderful idea for an open topic, and was totally planning to write it down to keep it for eventual sudden death write offs as soon as I finished the mowing.
Well, I can't remember what it was. That'll teach me to do stuff right when it pops up in my little scatterbrain....!

If anyone would like to be assigned a topic, if you ask, I will offer one. I will give each person who asks their own special topic, or, if you'd rather, 2-3 to choose from (let me know which you prefer.)

Obviously, since it's an open topic, so none of the topics I would throw out are officially "assigned," anyone can use any topics I put into the ring. Not that any of this necessarily makes things any easier, but for those who need a jumping off point to get the creative juices flowing, I can offer free springboards.
