I have no strategy. Open topics are very difficult for me. I like the challenge of writing to a specific topic and seeing what I can do with it. I may go back over the past topics and pick one of those. Or perhaps choose a lyric from a song or poem - I once wrote a story based on "On Top of Spaghetti." Or perhaps . . . . This is why open topics drive me crazy.

Ha! "Put a Leash On It" is exactly the kind of topic I would assign! (Maybe I'll steal that to add to my list in case anyone else asks for any... so far no one has taken me up on them, so I just keep building my list... right now I'm up to 17! But, yeah, I would let your mind wander as far as you want it to go... I have no concerns about being delighted with the results! ;-)

I'm invoking the ultra obscure LJ Idol rule by which if rayaso accidentally deletes a comment, and then later is awarded immunity, the person that responds to the comment about accidentally deleting a comment gets to take rayaso's immunity.

I thought it was weirdly specific that it was only you that rule was about, but I don't make the rules.

Still, there it is. This rule was based on my demonstrated inability to hit the right option. I suffer from the dreaded fatfinger syndrome.

I just realized that new people might not know that there is a good chance this will be a gatekeeper round. From what I remember the combo of “bring your A game” and “open topic” often signifies there will be gatekeepers. I could be wrong, Gary is always changing things up!

Gary recruits several people who have played idol before to be the gatekeepers. Usually it’s people who played multiple previous seasons, but not the current season. And they are the only ones who get to vote. So there won’t be a poll to watch. We get to know who was a gatekeeper once the vote is over.
