I'm with you - open topics are killer for me. A big part of the reason I hopped onto the Idol bandwagon again this season is because I wanted those prompts; when left to my own devices, I can be a little scattered...

Oh, no; I can't handle THAT kind of pressure!

I actually have had a singular line bouncing around in my head for the past several weeks and haven't had a chance to use it for anything, so I'm considering telling myself that line is my "topic" and I need to write something for it (at the very least to get it the heck out of my head).

Well, that may be the best use for that line... they say the most effective way to get a song stuck in your head out of your head is to get it into three OTHER people's heads! ;-) So, maybe you've actually written your own topic, then! XD

me too! D: I tend to play with various ideas and dither a lot about which one to ultimately go with which is why I do prefer a set topic as it helps narrow it down!
