[The man was all but running through the hallways with that excited look on his face which meant either something extremely good or something extremely bad was about to happen. In either case, it seemed prudent to follow, but the speeds Jim was moving combined with his own efforts to be discreet about his pursuit left him just missing the turbolift. However, as he watched the doors close in front of him, he realized that there was really only one place that he could be going.

So once it had returned, he stepped inside himself, emerging in the operations center to find him poring over far too many PADDs at once.]

Me? Elated, Spock? Never.

[ That tone in his voice removed any hint of sarcasm because he was so damn happy. He just grinned up at Spock before looking down at the console and continuing to hit buttons. Holly nodded to Spock as well in greetings.

Kirk didn't look back up as Spock inevitably walked over to him. Instead he held up one of the PADDs that had a historical article on it: Nexus. ]

[He glanced through the article as he spoke again, eyebrow raising.]

I presume this is the cause?

[ He glanced up at Spock but his focus remained forward. ]

Captain Picard was telling me how he met the me from his universe. From the Ambassador's universe. He was thought to have died in 2293 because he randomly disappeared off the Enterprise-B. Instead he had ended up in the wake of a temporal phenomenon called the Nexus by some people named El-Aurians.

[ A shrug. ]

The Nexus creates a reality for the individual inside it. Anything they want.

[ after having an enjoyable coffee with admiral pike, janeway had replicated one final cup and had brought it down to ops with her now that she was finally able to access it. what she hadn't expected was an extremely excited captain kirk rushing in a few minutes later ]

[ He grinned at her but went back to work. ]

[ there was a cup of tea in picard's hand when the captain entered ops to begin tending to duties he would have others working on had this been his enterprise. as it were, he was more than happy to get his hands dirty with the rest of them and was pleasantly surprised to see captain kirk working at one of the stations. ]

[ kirk's head shot up as picard entered. just the captain he wanted to see. he stood up right and gave the elder man a smile. he was liking the whole "seeing jean-luc when i'm in a good mood" trend that had been happening lately. ]

Captain Picard. Mind if I share a word with you?

Of course, Captain.

[ if he didn't consider himself to be on duty at the moment, it would have been "james," but picard was all rules and regulations when on duty and being here didn't change that. ]

[ a small gesture for picard to join him. kirk would of called him "jean-luc", but he responded with mr. kirk first... so. picard was on the list of "do not piss off ever" list. along with admiral pike. ]

I think I might have found out how we got here.

[ not that she was complaining, but the entrance and behavior were interesting and intriguing all at the same time. looking over from where she'd been working on trying to pinpoint there exact location in the neutral zone and determine how far the nearest federation outpost would be (if they were even still there) in order to know which direction and how far to prepare a probe to travel, uhura quirked an eyebrow at all of the padds that he'd spread over the console. ]

[ he tossed her a grin. well she was in a good mood. kirk really wished that this uhura or the one hailing from 2258.58 were from his crew. he got along better with the woman who wasn't in his universe. go figure. ]

[ setting the console to continue doing her calculations for her, uhura stood and crossed over to where he was worked, peaking over his shoulder. ]

[McCoy caught sight of Jim flying past Sickbay and finished what research he was doing before finding out from Holly just where one of the Kirks were heading in such haste. And so he arrives in ops, looking at Jim with a bemused and aggravated expression on his face.]
