[ somehow, he knew that the program would be there, silently thanking jadzia, despite the fact that a good level of his stress was centered around her, for having it available and saving him the trouble of having to program one himself. he did have to use his authority as a commander to set the level of difficult to the highest setting, but it was ( Read more... )

I'd hate to see your opponent. [Odo tilted his head at the Klingon] Should I be following the trail of blood to find him, or is he already in sickbay?

Constable.

[ worf, at first, was sure there was obvious startlement displayed on his ridged features. it was strange, seeing odo and seeing him in his old bajoran uniform. the klingon had not seen the changeling in five years, not since odo had returned to the great link. odo was now one of the leaders of the reformed dominion...yet, worf had the distinct feeling that this wasn't that particular odo. he must be from earlier...perhaps from even before he'd been summoned to the station do deal with the klingon infestation if he were to assume he'd attacked someone. ]

They were holographic opponents.

Well, that's a relief. I'd hate to have to arrest you for a disturbance of the peace. I heard about your earlier altercation when you arrived.

[His tone is one of gruff humour, and it's clear that while he is wary, he's not currently viewing Worf as a threat. He leans against the counter of the bar and folds his arms.]

Another bad day?

[ worf bit back the flare of temper at those words and the reminder that jadzia was alive and with someone who was not him. ]

What is your stardate?

[After a short somewhat uncomfortable but welcome nap, Julian had found himself being ordered to have a hot meal before showing his face in sickbay again. Rather than argue with them all, he'd headed to the promenade to grab a bite to eat at the mess hall near the bar.

He stopped short in his tracks as he passed the bar, though, when he spied a battered looking Worf.]

Commander! What in devil's name have you been doing?

[He strode over quickly, eyeing the injuries and trying to determine whether the Klingon needed some proper medical attention. That would teach him to not carry a medical tricorder and emergency medical kit with him at all times.]

[ if anyone else had been shouting at him in such a manner, worf would have regarded them with a dark look of warning or ordered them to continue on their way, but as it were, it was the voice of the one person on this station whom worf felt entirely comfortable around. even with captain picard, it was somewhat awkward, being that the older man was from a point in time where will riker had yet to accept captaincy of the titan and worf hadn't taken the latter man's place as first officer of the enterprise. and after ezri's confusion over which host she was, things were, once again, awkward between the two of them. it was most frustrating -- but, enough of that. he wanted the duration of his day to stay in this temporary light-sided mood before he dived back into the emotional whirlpool that was his life on this station.

he would learn to cope. eventually. ]

Making good use of one of Jadzia's programs. I believe Captain Sisko would have called it venting.

Ah. I see.

[He continued his visual inspection, knowing full well that trying to poke and prod him would be very unwise.]

It all seems mostly superficial. But I'd still like you to present yourself for an examination later. To make sure none of those wounds become infected, and that you haven't broken any bones or strained any muscles. And that's an order as one of the CMO's on the station, even if you do outrank me.

[He gave him a wry smile and then took a seat next to him]

Jadzia's work out programs can be quite rigorous. I presume you managed to vent sufficiently?

[ worf set his jaw. he did not like having medical rank pulled on him, but could not bring himself to ignore regulation, not while serving under captain picard again. perhaps captain sisko would have shrugged and said "he's a klingon, what do you expect?" but it wouldn't be that way with the man he was serving now. he gave the doctor a look that said he would listen, but he wasn't going to vocalize as much. ]

I had to override the safety controls, but yes. It was...what I needed.

[ he hesitated. if there was anyone he could share this with it was bashir, so he might as well get it off his chest. ]

...Ezri thought she was Jadzia. And then Joran. It was...unsettling.

[ Nia was just leaving her quarters, heading for either the library or these holodecks she'd heard about, when she caught sight of the bruised and bloodied Worf. Her eyes went wide and she stopped short, staring at him with a shocked and slightly scared expression. But, she reasoned, if there was anyone dangerous on board, someone would've mentioned it. So with her flawed logic supporting her, she inches along the opposite side of the corridor, trying not to look at Worf, but she can't help her eyes flicking towards him now and again. ]

[ worf had received many such stares at the academy and during his first year of on board the enterprise-d, as well as the first few months he spent on deep space 9, but it had been a long time since someone had watched him in such a manner. yes, he was well aware of the fact that it was quite rare and remarkable for there to be a klingon in starfleet -- even more so that he held the rank of commander and was first officer aboard the federation's flagship -- but people were well aware of his existence now. he had to remind himself that there were some aboard this station who were not as accustomed as those in his time were.

he paused and turned his attention to the woman. ]

I am a Klingon.

[ he offered up, just in case she had never seen his species before. it was rare, but it happened. ]

I'm... aware of that. You are also... bloody.

[ She stops walking and just gives Worf a concerned look with fear still tinting it. ]

Are... are you. Ah... alright, sir?

Yes. These are worthy scars that will heal of their own accord. I am fine--

[ he eyed her uniform. it was 23rd century, one of kirk's uniforms. he knew how to read the rank, though. ]

--Commander.

[ a pause. ]

I am Commander Worf of the USS Enterprise-E from stardate 2380.
