TCR: I totally wish the pope would actually come. Too bad he probably doesn't have that much of a sense of humor. But just how cool would it be

I'm not quite ready for C/O vs. D/R, therefore I nominate the Christian. Oliver. Ship manifesto. Insanity.
However, I'm really curious about the Meta on undercover Germans in fandom and wondering whether German society has a strange more fluid ideology of sexuality (at least in their fiction). Undercover Germans? Are we the mafia or the FBI? *g*
No I just keep stumbling across people who I never thought/guessed were German. They are everywhere!!!! Which makes me wonder, does it just feel like that to me because I notice them more? Or are they really overrepresented in the slash fandom? And if they are overrepresented could that be of German society having a weird more fluid interpretation of sexuality ("Well, I might be a 40something turkish man, but OF COURSE I will jump into bed with a younger sexy hot gay teacher. Because he has a face, you know!") :D
You mean overrepresented compared to other people who don't speak English as their native language?

I guess if your journal and the discussions in your journal are in English, it's less likely that you'll notice (or even think about) the nationality of the people commenting there. I have a German LJ and I'm not surprised about the number of Germans and Austrians on my flist. ;)
Yeah, but, it's strange to end up on an flist with somebody and it turns out that you are from a similar place and that's not even why you "picked" them. And there seem to be quite a bunch of "undercover" Germans. People who write their journals in English, write English fanfic and most people probably don't even realize that the person whose fic they read or who they are chatting with his German.
You mean overrepresented compared to other people who don't speak English as their native language?
Yeah. Pretty much. I mean I would love to take credit for good education, but don't all the Skandinavian countries have even better English education? But then again, if where are any undercover Finns and Norwegians they would probably be even harder to spot.
Undercover Icelandic person here and I wandered over through some random browsing and searching for stuff on LJ about Christian, Ollie and VL.
Following gay storylines on soaps has been a guilty pleasure of mine ever since I ran into the John Paul/Craig saga on youtube at some point last year.
Then ran into Luke and Noah, someone in youtube comments mentioned Deniz and Roman and from them I found Christian and Ollie which I confess push my buttons the most so far although I've enjoyed them all.
Anyway just wanted to say hi and yay! and yay! for meta, whichever one you end up writing.
They do seem to be quite good at pushing people's buttons. I'm starting to have this theory that not only is the VL storyline more slash/female friendly-ish maybe it actually helps that VL is a bit more simple in its storytelling. And in the dialog too. Maybe that makes it even easier for non-German speaking people to get into it?
Maybe a topic for a future meta :)
I always wanted to try JP/Craig but I always had a hard time with the accent. Maybe I really need to give it another chance!
JP/Craig is sort of amusing. It has worse acting than the others, especially from the actor playing Craig and he's obviously also uncomfortable with m/m affection. So there's nothing like the heat between Christian and Ollie for example. Also all the snoggage or makeout scenes are short and fully clothed mostly

This probably makes me a bad person, but... that totally made me want to watch it even more ;D
I wouldn't underestimate the hotness factor. Christian and Ollie are *really* good at making out for the camera and really selling the longing for each other in pretty much every touch.Yeah, exactly. My sort of short equation would be that Deniz and Roman are *natural* and Christian and Oliver are *emotional*. Deniz and Roman feel very real to me, kinda like I picture it can be, two people meeting, hanging out, testing each other out. It just feels like normal people would act. Meanwhile Christian and Oliver are just shamelessly emotional (which in the end is completely appropriate for a soap
( ... )
I'll do my best. Hopefully I can do it without incurring the wrath of either side :D
And I'll probably have to rewatch all and ALL available material. For research purposes ;D BTW, is there a video anywhere of Igor and Dennis accepting the Blu Award thingie? Or a good page which carries all the pictures?
Unfortunately not really, the only clip I know of for the Blu Award is here. As for pictures, do you mean of the award or screencaps in general? Alas, these are lacking also, perhaps I should make that my little self-indulgent procrastination project.
