TCR: I totally wish the pope would actually come. Too bad he probably doesn't have that much of a sense of humor. But just how cool would it be

especially from the actor playing Craig and he's obviously also uncomfortable with m/m affection.
This probably makes me a bad person, but... that totally made me want to watch it even more ;D
I wouldn't underestimate the hotness factor. Christian and Ollie are *really* good at making out for the camera and really selling the longing for each other in pretty much every touch.
Yeah, exactly. My sort of short equation would be that Deniz and Roman are *natural* and Christian and Oliver are *emotional*. Deniz and Roman feel very real to me, kinda like I picture it can be, two people meeting, hanging out, testing each other out. It just feels like normal people would act. Meanwhile Christian and Oliver are just shamelessly emotional (which in the end is completely appropriate for a soap).
I don't think that it's a coincidence that the big pay off moment was Christian saying he had falling in love with Olli. The sex (while very appropriate and totally fitting the scene) was just a bonus. Or rather, the scene wouldn't have been nearly as satisfying if it had happened without the admission.
Deniz and Roman had many good scenes too and emotional ones too. But it still feels more like the progress of a real relationship rather than the big clusterfuck kind of love (have Deniz and Roman ever said that they loved each other? I don't remember. I think it might have happened more in the form "I like you, you idiot."). Kind of, if they were stories Christian/Oliver would be slash and Deniz/Roman would be gay youth lit (well, pre-Vanessa at least).

Hehehehe, it also is sort of amusing because his character is the one that's doing most of the angsty struggling JP knows what he wants and comes out as gay with a bit of angst but he knows he's gay.
Beware though it's long. As in I think it's well over 100 clips in total. They're definately NOT on the natural side of things. I.e it's slash all the way really. Here's the first really big omg! but I want you moment of theirs, with the first proper kiss, and then fade to black sex: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=KJMgSblk3Dw
The emotional porn (you know what I mean) is a lot more effective in the JP/Craig story than any of the physical stuff, i.e it's the confessions and the drama and the tears that are the actual meat of the story and what hooked people. It's such a standard slash plot as well. Interestingly it has one of the same tropes as Christian and Ollie, the out gay one JP was trying to move on and in doing that made the I am totally straight and in denial ugh ugh! jealous and that kind of kicked everything off, apart from Craig making Christian seem very in touch with his feelings, clued in and open.
I think the distinction you made between Roman/Deniz and Christian/Olivier is very apt i.e the gay youth lit vs. slash. I actually really enjoyed the more natural easy going feel but that didn't hook me as fannishly. I guess I'm somewhat predictable. Heh..

Both things totally have their own appeal to me.
