'Troy', 'Starsky & Hutch'

It was movie day yesterday. Finally saw 'Troy' and got 'Starsky & Hutch' in the mail from Netflix.

Well, I've posted my opinions of Troy on Gaslight and in my LJ I think. I liked the costumes, the sets...and I believe it was Helen that Steph mentioned that had a great eye shadow color which I would very much like to find. (Note to self: Check Nicole Miller catalog).

I'm not going to repeat every single thing I've said before. It all boils down to this: I didn't hate the movie, but I didn't like it either. It was on my list of "Must-Sees" of the summer and collapsed. I still think the biggest mistake was casting Brad as Achilles, because this shifted the thrust of the story from the Paris-Helen romance to something else, and that bothered me (Well that and the fact that I'm not much of a Brad fan, but loved him in Legends of the Fall). Slashing the War from 10 years to 3 weeks (or thereabouts) was bothersome too, because we never saw the change in Helen's relationship with Paris as she realizes her massive error.

Okay -- so they chucked a story that has withstood the ages and turned it into a Gladiator, Braveheart, Lord of the ( ... )
