In the past, I've gone into the concept of the Aliens Make Them Do It story - oh, have I ever - but aliens can't take full responsibility for all the sexing, you know. Even the most assiduously lascivious extra-terrestrial needs a break sometime. But never fear, because anything, properly applied, can get the characters into the appropriately

I just. I don't thing I have ever read anything more true than that sentence.

And I bet that was a lot more challenging back on earth; at least in Pegasus there's a limited number of people, and everyone in the city knows him. (I can see the new crew orientation now: "Lieutenant Colonel Sheppard seems like he's flirting, but if you respond, he'll stare at you like you're speaking in tongues. Save yourself the trouble and heartache and crush on Lorne instead.") At home, though, he probably had the experience of being invited to what he thought was a pick-up game of basketball and ending up at a sex party.
In fact, he probably had it more than once.

You're the fannish version of Dwight. Dwight was the crack dealer that used to live three houses down from my parents. Of course Dwight is in prison now - or, well, he was *sent* to prison a couple of years ago, but knowing the Texas justice system he's probably out by now. Um...anyway...long way of saying THANK YOU for bringing the fandom crack. I am a rabid repeat customer of yours!
I'm off to read about these Fraser and Ray people now...

And malnpudl is absolutely right with her links - she knows from dS. The CV overview is what I used to get into this fandom, and the Ship Manifesto is great. And, because dS people tend to love their fandom long and loud, I'm going to offer you a number of links. You'll probably have seen some of them before, but - well, just in case.
DS has some of the best infrastructure I've seen in a fandom, both on LJ and off. On LJ, there's the famed ds_flashfiction community, which is still going strong, and which has a huge back catalog in the memories. New stories and other related stuff is announced in ds_noticeboard. Off LJ, there's the Due South Archive, which is one of the few all-inclusive fandom archives I've seen, and Due Slash, which is, well, slash. If you see a broken link (which is a problem in a fandom this old), odds are good you'll find the story at one of these two sites.
I recommended a couple of good starter stories in my dS FIHL, which is old, but the canon is closed, so that doesn't matter too ( ... )

*standing ovation* Truly a thing of beauty.

And then there's always the SGA fics that boil down to "Hey, look, a giant field of alien poppy-like flowers! Let's walk through!"

Thanks right back at you for the compliments and the story, both of which I adore.

Oh, Herc.

And yes, there are lots of women in leather. And more than one bone-headed demigod. And more than a little Iolaus/Herc slashiness. (The guy died three times over the course of the series. And each time Herc went after him to save him. I mean, how much more obvious do you need your slash to be? [Herc even put up with Crazy Alternate Clown Iolaus for an entire season because it was Iolaus. Need I say more?] To put it in perspective - Jim and Blair are gay, you know? But Herc and Iolaus [and Xena and Gabrielle, too] are gay. They make Aziraphale look straight as a razor by comparison.)
