[the auditorium is fairly dim today; chairs are spread out in a vague sort of order. The shadowy figure of Jackie is already at the front, sitting on the edge of the stage; and yes, there are half-sandwiches. (And pasta

[he looks out at the crowd for a moment before stuffing his hands in his pockets. Serious time.]
Welcome to the meeting. Glad you all could come. I'd start off with a joke, but...
[he just looks at you. 8|]
Can't say I'm really feeling funny right now. So let's get down to business.
First of all, I'd like to lay out a few ground rules. Not to be an ass and control everything; but I'd like this not to be a waste of time.
Rule number one: we're all here because we're stuck in this damned town, and because we want to try and fix it up. This is our common goal. In all other ways - we may be different. We're gonna disagree, argue, fight for the things we think are best. That's the way I like it, personally. There's nothing great in being blind and mute - in being forced into the herd like a dumb animal. That's not how we're gonna roll.
But we're also not here to beat the shit out of each other. I don't care if the person next to you banged your mom and killed your dog, you play nice here. Anything you gotta do...take

--CHIP REMOVAL SAFEHOUSE--theforceoncrackAugust 23 2009, 04:34:36 UTC
My first concern is something that occurred to me fairly recently. As most of everyone knows, we all have chips implanted in our bodies when we first arrive in Discedo. They're okay for normal people, but a lot of us have powers that are blocked out by them. Suffice to say that it's a little annoying, and I don't blame anyone for wanting their chip removed. The problem comes afterwards - when the effects of the chip removal kick in

[ Sorata's doing his best to keep up with everything and do the job given to him, reading off comments made over the network. But at this, he looks up and raises his hand quickly. He almost feels nervous (*that's* a weird feeling, for him), explaining this to whoever, but... ]
When I said I'd help, I mean that I have the ability to kinda... lock people away from everyone else for a while. It would be a little different from what you guys were talkin' about, but it would absolutely be safe. [ Unless I die. No point in mentioning that part. He sits down again, not expecting questions. ]
Well, with my powers, it doesn't matter where it is. [ He scratches at his forehead absently. ] When I put up a kekkai, it copies the surroundings I'm in, down to furniture, if I want it to. Just without people... unless I purposefully bring 'em in.
The trick is that no one can leave it until I let it down again, so there's no comin' and goin' or getting stuff. I've never really checked to see how long it last, but in theory, as long as I'm okay, it should stay up as long as I need...?
[the man runs a hand through his hair, looking a little tired. And...disbelieving. Because:]
I can't believe that I'm the one saying this -
[there you go.]
- but we need to give the police force some support. I know this place is chock full of death and destruction and crap, and that things slip by, but try to give 'em all the benefit of the doubt, and work with them towards our mutual goal of being a safe happyland city. If you need to report something to them, a lot of them have spots for that on their frequencies. I can vouch that several of their members are pretty cool guys. And girls.
[ Leaning against a back wall, arms crossed, this little reverse-trap raises her eyebrows a little at that part. ]
It should be mentioned that, having solved each case given to us in the past half year, the force also has a better record than most better-equipped police agencies elsewhere. I can only think of one crime that is yet unsolved; at this point, the complaining about our ineptitude is ridiculous.
[ Maybe a bit confrontational, but when hasn't she taken the police force here too seriously? ]
-He's just going to smile and nod his agreement. Even if he WAS part of the problem once, he's now working his hardest to put the force back in a positive light.-
--GUIDE TO DISCEDO--theforceoncrackAugust 23 2009, 04:36:00 UTC
[he's been standing up here for a bit now, so he sits with his knees pulled up to address this next topic.]
Let me tell all you new kids a story. A long, long time ago, Discedo had a little guide. It was written by a man named...
[pause.]
...Garcian, and it was generally given to new people whenever they showed up. It had stuff about the monsters, the apartments, the history of Discedo. Unfortunately, he left, and eventually everyone just sort of forgot about it.
Well, it was really pretty useful - so I'd like to start something like that up again. Maybe even have a little group whose job is to welcome new folks into our little home. I think that would honestly solve a few of our problems around here, and get rid of the repeated questions over the comms.
(NOT PRESENT/VIDEO) go go go spokesperson Sorata~!mercifulsmileAugust 23 2009, 05:03:06 UTC
[She'd be listening in to this for a while now, and when the "guide to Discedo" part popped up, Gracia found something she might be able to do for the town.]
Oh, I can help with that! I think I know the basic questions and the answers to them when I see new people come in the city. But I can only speak Japanese, so is that still alright?
[ Sorata reads off the question and replies without even pausing for breath or to let anyone else respond: ]
..."But I can only speak Japanese, so is that still alright?" Of course it is! Anyway, in a place like this, willingness to help is more important than ability.
--GENERAL ISSUES, INCLUDING HOUSING--theforceoncrackAugust 23 2009, 04:36:31 UTC
[back on our feet again. He cracks his knuckles a bit.]
Alright. Let's talk somewhat domestic, kids.
First of all, in general: we've got a few groups working on things like construction, food, electricity, plumbing. Anyone have any status updates on those? If we need more builders or supply runners or anything, we should address it. Some people have been here going on two or three years now, and it's getting better, but we're still operating on the minimum of essentials here. I'd like things to keep working as intended. We get knocked down by things like earthquakes and fires and shit - but that's life. It sucks ass, and all we can do is keep working on it.
Secondly...I know that the Horton Watch is still going strong in my building, but what about jurisdiction and shit in the other apartments? I'm sure Gohl's doing fine and they don't need our help - if they did, of course, they could just, you know. Whisper it in our ears and we'd toss them whatever they needed - and I heard Rosalyn had a Latimir Heroes Club, but she's left and

[ Fuuka was sitting towards the back, minding her business, listening to everything-oh. Oh. Electricity. She should... say something here, right? Unless someone else did, first?
It took her a significant amount of willpower, but she stood up from her seat and raised a hand slowly. Talking over the network was different than speaking in a room filled with actual people. Her voice is a little wavery: ]
U - um. Dr. Freeman has been... well, we've all been working to get electricity restored... The goal is to have the high school and all three major apartment buildings... first, we're going to get the school and Latimir up, by fixing up the generators; t-then, make wind turbines? I think?
[ Deep breath. ] W- we have all the supplies gathered, and are working on the school already. If everything goes well, the high school and Latimir will have power again by the end of the month...
[ Deep breath. Was that it? Was that all? Fuuka sat back down again very quickly. ]
I like the idea of wind turbines. Even if the weather isn't always conducive to it, they could just as easily be kept going by use of powers, too. [ His own included, if his chip weren't in, but he's pretty sure he can't be the only one with wind powers in a group this big. ]
[ Was she supposed to answer that? Fuuka decided yes, standing back up. Small as she was, it probably made no difference in visibility. ]
We were also thinking about getting the hydroelectric plant running... But, that's beyond our current abilities, and there are too many monsters. There are some solar panels someone built a while ago... so I guess it's that and wind.

I was thinking both a physically far location and your powers, in case one of them fails. But maybe that doesn't make sense.
[he ponders for a moment.]
What if you guys needed something from the outside? Could just one of you come out? How long can you hold it?

Yeah, that's totally okay. A lot of people come in speaking Japanese anyway.
