[the auditorium is fairly dim today; chairs are spread out in a vague sort of order. The shadowy figure of Jackie is already at the front, sitting on the edge of the stage; and yes, there are half-sandwiches. (And pasta ( Read more... )

--CHIP REMOVAL SAFEHOUSE-- theforceoncrack August 23 2009, 04:34:36 UTC
My first concern is something that occurred to me fairly recently. As most of everyone knows, we all have chips implanted in our bodies when we first arrive in Discedo. They're okay for normal people, but a lot of us have powers that are blocked out by them. Suffice to say that it's a little annoying, and I don't blame anyone for wanting their chip removed. The problem comes afterwards - when the effects of the chip removal kick in ( ... )

[ Sorata's doing his best to keep up with everything and do the job given to him, reading off comments made over the network. But at this, he looks up and raises his hand quickly. He almost feels nervous (*that's* a weird feeling, for him), explaining this to whoever, but... ]

When I said I'd help, I mean that I have the ability to kinda... lock people away from everyone else for a while. It would be a little different from what you guys were talkin' about, but it would absolutely be safe. [ Unless I die. No point in mentioning that part. He sits down again, not expecting questions. ]

[Jackie shuffles around a bit, hands in pockets.]

I was thinking both a physically far location and your powers, in case one of them fails. But maybe that doesn't make sense.

[he ponders for a moment.]

What if you guys needed something from the outside? Could just one of you come out? How long can you hold it?

Well, with my powers, it doesn't matter where it is. [ He scratches at his forehead absently. ] When I put up a kekkai, it copies the surroundings I'm in, down to furniture, if I want it to. Just without people... unless I purposefully bring 'em in.

The trick is that no one can leave it until I let it down again, so there's no comin' and goin' or getting stuff. I've never really checked to see how long it last, but in theory, as long as I'm okay, it should stay up as long as I need...?

[he ponders s'more. If he had everything in there....there wouldn't be anything to "get" from outside, right?]

You really think it'll work?

The only way it can be taken down without me willin' it is if I die. [ ... ]

I'm no carpenter, tough... I can help, perhaps.

[You're a pretty cool guy, Testy.]

That'd be cool. I was thinking about talking to...that short kid. Ed?

[looks around.]

Is there an Ed in the house?

In the back of the crowd sat Washu. For height reason's, she was in her adult form so she could at least see through the crowd as she listened to the issues addressed. This issue caught her attention, perhaps she could be useful in this? She raised her hand, her bright red hair not that hard to spot in the crowd.

"I wouldn't mind offering my assistance. As to keeping people from hiding, why not have the chip doctors keep records of who they remove the chips from? Or perhaps set up a chip removal clinc as a part of this safehouse?"

[ Nagisa stood in the back of the crowd, calmly. At Washu's suggestion, Nagisa perked up; the woman raised her hand, wanting to add to it - a response. ]

I think it might be better to set up the chip removal clinic separate from the safehouse, for safety. Perhaps it would be best to set up the clinic in the Hospital, as it has been, and then transport the patients to the safehouse. It might also be a good idea, if there are enough materials, to eventually build more than one safehouses - so that there is not a group of uncontrollable people together, in danger of one another.

[Jackie nods slowly at both of their suggestions.]

As long as we had reliable transportation. There'd have to be a clinic inside the safehouse, whether it's going to be a physical thing or Sorata's weird otherworld deal. People are going to get there really sick.

[he thinks for a few moments, chewing on his lip.]

I guess having the doctors use records would be the easiest thing. I assume you all're keeping the location nice and secret.

It's a good idea...

[Besides translating, Shinjiro was mostly keeping to himself during this meeting. Hands in his pockets, slumped against a wall. This topic had particular interest to him though. Or maybe frustration was the better word... he'd seen way too many problems from chip removals.]

It's just gonna be tricky to pull off. Should we have more than one person at a time in this 'safehouse?'

[he scratches his head a bit.]

Maybe. Depends on what it ends up looking like, I guess. I was thinking a whole building, with different rooms for everyone, but that's far-fetched, isn't it?

[ Sorata is just interrupting left and right. ]

It looks like Ichinomiya has a similar ability to me, so maybe what we can do is just do three or four different "places" or "protections?" I do one, he does one, there's the safehouse, something like that. If y'can get the doctors to stagger chip removals a little bit, or something... And, not everyone needs it, I don't think. During my week, I was fine as long as I kept to myself.

Same word, but ours are kinda different. Or, mine's more specific... [ He could ramble forever about this-magic compare and contrast. Cough. ] Anyway, I mean, it might be less easy, but more practical, to divide it like that.
