Monday 16th December:

It's the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge. And the 47th anniversary of the (real) Sex Pistols last London gig. Coincidence? Yes.

Back in 2024 I got up with the lark in the dark, wolfed down some breakfast, tanked up on Lemsip and hoofed it down the hill. Relieved that public transport was working efficiently. ( Read more... )

Sunday 15th December:

Slept mercifully well. Tiptoed to lavatory in the middle of the night. "Daddy!" whispered Daisy. It was 05.25. Oh dear. Managed to persuade her to stay in bed till my alarm went off 90 minutes later.

Sneezing in the night. It was with some trepidation that I set off towards Totteridge in the drizzle. Despite unpromising weather and the threat of a an imminent cold I really enjoyed the run, especially once I crossed Totteridge High Street and entered unfamiliar territory. Friday 13th December:

Humdinger of a hangover. Disproportionate to the consumption. Was very glad I had frontloaded work. It was after 10:00 when I finally crawled out of bed.

Happily I managed to get my arse into gear after that. Finished report then fired it off. Did a cleaning blitz of the flat. Satisfying. I was hoping that might loud efforts ( Read more... )

Thursday 12th December:

Another groggy start to the day. Felt decidedly snotty. Apparently there is a flu epidemic on the way. Reminded me that I really should have sorted out my seasonal jabs by now but life as ever gets in the way.

Abysmal sleep, disproportionate to the relatively modest amount of boozing last night. It's as if my body is trying to tell me something. Adriene mocked me with today's "Yoga for Seniors".

Up shortly before 09:00, a little later than I'd have liked. Had quite a long yoga practice after breakfast. Started panicking about time so increased the playback speed for the last segment, making Adriene sound comically like Pinky & Perky.

Woke up around 09:00 again. Not sure if it's good that I'm sleeping in later, or it's just that I'm going to sleep later and the window has shifted.

In that awkward limbo between jobs so made a list of tasks to get out of the way until data arrived.

Sunday 8th December:

Darragh continued to batter the country. Daisy awoke at 05:18 and I thought we were in for a tough one but amazingly she went back to sleep. When she woke up again it was after 08:00. A Christmas miracle!

Spectacularly bad sleep. Up several times in the night. Palpitations. Storm Darragh battering the windows. Got up before alarm to check parkrun status.
