Smallville Thoughts (10x06 Harvest) Spoilers

Nov 01, 2010 13:48

Not a review, although I actually pretty much loved the episode (and surprise surprise, it had nothing to do with the ending Clois scene).  But I was on the SHoE site (I miss it when it wasn't a bunch of teenagery fanboys) and someone mentioned that they thought Clark was going to give Lois that (tacky, my words) Kawatche bracelet, but it turned ( Read more... )

Absolutely! I know there's been a fair bit of fanfic about the bracelet but as you say, it always struck me more as a class ring. Giving her Swann's journal IS far more than that.

Something about that bracelet, I don't know if it's just because I know it'sn Al & Miles contraption, but it just seems so juvenile. The journal, on the other hand, is a whole other level of love and trust. He never entrusted anyone else to keep that thing, not his best friend, not anyone else in the league, and not the "love of his life" Lana. So to give it to Lois was fricken HUGE.

I was never one of those fans that had to have Clark give her the bracelet though I wouldn't have minded it was a romantic gesture but like you said the journal means so much more.

It's like opening up his soul to her, letting her in where really no one else has gone before THAT is highly romantic to me.

One thing the SV writers have consitantly gotten right is the Clois relationship, from the beginning from barely tolerating each other to secret friends to best friends to partners then to lovers...this telling of the Clois relationship has been my favorite by far.

I mean, yeah I know what the bracelet represents and all, but seriously giving Lois the journal was like WHOOOOAAAA. That's a level of intimacy that the bracelet just can't touch.

I agree that the Clois relationship, from frenemies to what they are now has been consistently a great thing to watch unfold. It's, IMO, and not just as a CLoiser because i wasn't always one, one of, if not the only naturally progressing relationship. The elder Kents don't count because they were already there, but Clark and Lois we saw unfold from the very beginning. It's also the only other relatinship besides the Kents where I can actually tell WHY they like each other let alone love each other. They've done a brilliant job of not only telling me, but showing me.

Oh honey, you know that you and I are on the same page about that tacky bracelet. The journal was worth so much more.

I thought the love scene in this episode was beautifully done. I thought it was moving and clearly about love making and sharing everything together. But my favorite moment was when he gave her the journal.

I'm going to write my own review later on today.

Oh yes, we are "here" about the bracelet.

The love scene was gorgeous. Some ppl said they wished it was longer, but in my opinion, it actually looked like they'd just "finished" and considering it began in the daylight in the barn and ended at night in the bedroom...my imagination can fill in the blanks vividly, lol. I can't wait to read your review.

Nothing but WORD. I *love* that he gave her the journal. And total agreement on Clark's reaction to Lois' view of him and wanting to be "more" in her eyes.

This was most evident, and I forgot to include it in my example, but in Idol in the copyroom when Clark says that he wished he could be two people for her. He has always wanted, subconsciously in the earlier seasons, and consciously now, for Lois to see him as "more" whereas he's always wanted everyone else to see him as "less". Look at all the times he saved her in the early seasons, and when she would brush it off, Clark would physcially and visibly bristle at the idea that he couldn't "possibly" have been any help to her, lol. It only adds to my anti-lightswitch argument.
