Smallville Thoughts (10x06 Harvest) Spoilers

Nov 01, 2010 13:48

Not a review, although I actually pretty much loved the episode (and surprise surprise, it had nothing to do with the ending Clois scene).  But I was on the SHoE site (I miss it when it wasn't a bunch of teenagery fanboys) and someone mentioned that they thought Clark was going to give Lois that (tacky, my words) Kawatche bracelet, but it turned ( Read more... )

LOL, absolutely. I'm of the opinion that Clark has shown not only in words, but actions who his heart now and will always belong to, power suits or not.

I have to admit, for an instant, I wondered if he was going to give her the bracelet. But I thought the journal was way cooler. Because the journal represents him and his past more than the bracelet. It was a beautiful gesture and I love the way you described it.

But with Lois, she didn’t see anything special, so he’s always subconsciously wanted to impress her
*nods* This is true! I definitely remember 'Crimson', when he was on redk and trying to show Lois how much better he is than Oliver.

And there are example even in Season 9 where Clark still wanted this feeling. HE said so in Idol that he wished he could be two people for her, and in Charade he told Martha, in so many words, that the way she opened up to the Blur made him fall more in love with her. I just always found it amusing that she was probably the only person that he openly revealed himself to while on Red-K, which as we know lets him loose his inhibitions and do things he normally wouldn't. So if he would reveal himself to Lois on Red K, but to NO ONE ELSE IN ALL THE TIMES HE'S BEEN INFECTED says a lot.

Oh, I completely agree. Clark wanted her to know all that time, and Kal would've just stolen Clark's thunder, lol.

I so desperately want a RedK episode this season now that she knows. I want this so so bad! I actually thought RedK Clark in Upgrade was oddly subdued, but mostly because, except in telling Lois his secret, he was acting the way he wanted in Season 9. Blowing up greenK weapons is nothing compared to a building, lol.

I so love this post and I agree, Clark giving Lois Dr. Swann's journal has so much more meaning and importance over some soulmate bracelet that was created by earthlings. What Clark gave Lois was a part of him, per se. It's a part of his being, his heritage, not part of an Indian folktale.

And you are so right about paralleling it with Clark giving Bruce the Kryptonite ring - that's deep faith and trust baby!!

As Brian Peterson said at Comic Con - Clark doesn't need some soulmate bracelet to let Lois know that she's the one.

WORD. I cringed when that damn bracelet was brought up at comic con and I loved BP for saying that about it. It was a classy way of saying "Uh, no, that thing was tacky and we have something WAY COOLER planned" lol.

IMHO, I know there are several Cloisers that want to see an engagement, but hell giving her the journal was practically a proposal right there. Clark doesn't just "tell" anyone who and what he is. He's told Lana and now Lois. Everyone else he told because he was forced to (Pete, Alicia, Chloe) after they'd alredy witnessed it, He never told Lex or Oliver, and everyone else found out on their own. But Lana he told because he knew she was leaving, and he told Lois because he WANTED her to know in order to have a future with her. And then to give her this, something he never thought to give anyone else...I can't get over how much I love our boy.

I truly believe that damn bracelet was brought in by AlMiles because they were so freaking anvil-happy (and also that Lois wasn't allowed at that point). I'm surprised most of us don't have flattops from all the anvils that were dropped during that period of AlMiles.

Lucky for us that under this new helm, the anvils stopped and we were allowed to see it all unfold before our eyes.

I also think that Lois being given the journal will also come into play later on in the season.

I actually wouldn't mind a scene where Lois & Clark are in bed, maybe post-coitus and Lois is reading out loud a page of the journal, truly sharing eveything.

That would be cool, and I really hope it does come into play. What I loved about that scene and the beginning scene in the car, add to that the scene in Homecoming with Lois 'analysing" Clark for Kryptonite, is that it's obvious he told her EVERYTHING. Probably even what really happened in Crimson, we know that Pandora was explained thanks to Homecoming, we know he probably re-explained Infamous, and everything else she was left out of. I love that level of honesty that he just laid it aaaaaallllll out there.

I need a Isis or Harvest icon, got one I can use?

I'll admit that for a second there I thought he was going for the bracelet but omg, you're so right, the journal is so much more meaningful. Although when/if he ever does give her the bracelet, Lois is going to be in a conundrum; poor Lois will have to be all nice and that's-so-sweet while thinking, "oh dear god, he doesn't actually want me to wear this ugly thing, does he?" Lol!

LOL, I'm pretty positive that tacky thing will never see the light of day. Even if Clark has an eidetic memory (in Season 1 at least, lol), I don't think that thing has even crossed his mind. To be honest, I see him giving that tacky thing to Lana more than Lois, but just because I see it as that "class ring' you give that high school girlfriend you think you'll be in love with "forever". But Clark pretty much just proposed to her for crying out loud because Clark doesn't just share EVERYTHING about him (including the possible means to stop him) to just anyone.

"It's not actual canon or even series canon, simply an interpretation. Get the basic story right but the details are reinterpreted, a metaphor for the show itself. "

Oh! I love that. It's "mythos" but not "canon".

And I love that you brought up that parallel. Someone on DI noted that Clark gave Lois the journal around the same day (day after?) that would've been the anniversary of Clark landing on Earth. I don't care if it was intentional or not, that's a great little bit of meta there.
