I also liked the military and CIA calling Steve on his unauthorized operations and telling him flat out that he can't trade on his reputation anymore and needs to butt the hell out. I hope that signals a shift away from these kinds of plots and more towards, I don't know, police work maybe.
Yeah, when Steve surged up to fight for his life in those last few seconds - that was pretty powerful.
So far the PTSD has been mostly off screen, much like Danny's claustrophobia. But that could change when it's convenient to.
It was nice to see him taken to task for it (even though it wasn't his idea, etc) and that the Navy is not going to stand for his shenanigans, actually.
I wish I could say this was a fond farewell to Cath, but I was relieved to see it finally end. Glad she didn't get fridged (yet), but it wasn't exactly a great way to go out. I still can't get over commandeering Navy equipment to get a soccer ball out of a field. I mean, really?
More police work means more Grover-as-Steve'-s-partner, so I'm kinda torn, actually.

Well, she commandeered Navy equipment all the time for Steve, so it's actually pretty in character for her. But yeah, kinda stupid waste of money when they have other ways of getting safely through the field.
I do suppose the equally ridiculous part of that was Steve being the one to call her on it, since he does have that history of asking her to use military equipment for his own gain, yes.
Wait, what, write Cath out like... of the series? Did I miss something? Anyway, yes, we've totally seen this episode before, but I can't help and be taken by the performances of everyone around, meaning Alex, Scott and Michelle. Loved too how Steve finally got called on his shit for a change and how Danny totally stood up for him against the big bad Navy/CIA double teaming. The feels. And even though I was like - oh, Danny, Chin and Kono solved a case that couldn't even be called a case, because seriously, murder by organ withdrawal? Can we GET anymore ridiculous? - I kinda liked the ep. Especially since not all Afghan people were bloodthirsty terrorists, but just normal compassionate family people. That like 90% of them actually are, even if it was for plot convenience, but hey, I take what I can get.
Also, can we be shallow for a moment and appreciate all those side shots of Danny gloriously showcasing his gorgeous arms and chest? I just felt like throwing that in.

They announced last weekend that Michelle Borth would be leaving H50 and not returning next season. This episode was her swan song.
Danny totally stood up for him against the big bad Navy/CIA double teaming
I loved their reactions when they ordered Danny out of the room expecting to be obeyed without question, and Danny was all 'uh, no, you're not the boss of me.'

That didn't even make any sense. Okay, stealing the guy's donated organ so he'll die is probably not the least ridiculous form of murder they've ever had on this show, but if the point was for the guy to die, why hang onto the organ and keep it in the intact container? Why not break the seal, remove the liver, and dispose of it?
I think they shouldn't have bothered with a case at all, just had Steve and Catherine doing their thing in Afghanistan, then Catherine calling Danny for help when Steve got captured.
Wow... that. I totally missed that memo, that... I don't even know how to feel about that. I mean, I guess I wish her well and all, and truly that was a great swan song and I'm glad they didn't kill her, but, huh... so does that mean I can have my Danny/Steve rebound fic now
( ... )
For me a lot of propaganda and violence in this episode. But the acting was good (for me Alex was a very good actor in the first season and now he has improved a lot), and a beaten steve is sexy.
Steve's taken enough beatings as far as I'm concerned. I'd prefer it if the show went back to the way it was in season 1 when the main characters were treated more equally.

I completely agree! Enough of that already

It's a novel idea for a police show, isn't it?
