I have this terrible feeling of déjà vu, but I'm not sure why.

Wait, what, write Cath out like... of the series? Did I miss something?
Anyway, yes, we've totally seen this episode before, but I can't help and be taken by the performances of everyone around, meaning Alex, Scott and Michelle.
Loved too how Steve finally got called on his shit for a change and how Danny totally stood up for him against the big bad Navy/CIA double teaming. The feels.
And even though I was like - oh, Danny, Chin and Kono solved a case that couldn't even be called a case, because seriously, murder by organ withdrawal? Can we GET anymore ridiculous? - I kinda liked the ep. Especially since not all Afghan people were bloodthirsty terrorists, but just normal compassionate family people. That like 90% of them actually are, even if it was for plot convenience, but hey, I take what I can get.

Also, can we be shallow for a moment and appreciate all those side shots of Danny gloriously showcasing his gorgeous arms and chest? I just felt like throwing that in.

They announced last weekend that Michelle Borth would be leaving H50 and not returning next season. This episode was her swan song.

Danny totally stood up for him against the big bad Navy/CIA double teaming

I loved their reactions when they ordered Danny out of the room expecting to be obeyed without question, and Danny was all 'uh, no, you're not the boss of me.'

murder by organ withdrawal? Can we GET anymore ridiculous?

That didn't even make any sense. Okay, stealing the guy's donated organ so he'll die is probably not the least ridiculous form of murder they've ever had on this show, but if the point was for the guy to die, why hang onto the organ and keep it in the intact container? Why not break the seal, remove the liver, and dispose of it?

I think they shouldn't have bothered with a case at all, just had Steve and Catherine doing their thing in Afghanistan, then Catherine calling Danny for help when Steve got captured.

Wow... that. I totally missed that memo, that... I don't even know how to feel about that. I mean, I guess I wish her well and all, and truly that was a great swan song and I'm glad they didn't kill her, but, huh... so does that mean I can have my Danny/Steve rebound fic now ( ... )

I don't know... so many of the strong beautiful female characters have gotten the shaft on the show, literally (Malia) and figuratively (Kono) that I'm really glad Catherine gets trusted to go off and use her considerable skill and competence to be a heroine in her own right for something that's worth it. To choose something she feels is important even if that means giving up someone she loves and asking the same from him in return. I feel like that's a worthy legacy and of course, Steve will be pining and the story will stay open-ended in a way, but killing her off would just have fed into his issues in a very redundant and obviously unhealthy way, so I'm glad that they didn't for that reason as well. But that's just my own two-cents.
