RP: Finally, a break!

Chely's schedule this week was seriously messed up. She'd worked a 7 to 7 night shift on Monday and Tuesday, then had all day Wednesday off, and now was working 7 to 7 day shift today through Saturday. It was always easier to work the same shift for a full week (whenever that week began and ended) but Peggy was out with a bad back, and Bruce had come down with the flu, so their supervisor, Fran, had to rejigger the schedule to make sure the E.R. was covered.

When things slowed down in the E.R. in the early afternoon, Fran told Chely to take a break. Chely wasted no time getting to the cafeteria. She'd barely had time to pee this morning, so she wasn't going to miss a lunch break. Going through the cafeteria line, she grabbed a caesar salad, lemonade and garlic bread. As she scanned the room for a place to sit, she recognized one of the blood-suckers, the techs who draw blood for lab work.

"Hey," she said, wandering toward the table. "Mind if I join you?"

"Oh, hi!" Adison smiled politely. "Yeah, sure. I'm Adison, and you'll forgive me if I've already told you that once; I have a hard time with names, and working in a new place there are a lot of new names to remember."

"Hi, Adison, I'm Chely," she said, taking a seat. "I know we've met before, in the E.R. I rememember that you drew the labs last week for the boy with the stomach pains. So how long have you been at JPS?"

"I've only been here about..." Adison paused, counting backwards in her head. "I have to think about it... I moved toward the end of November, so about six weeks. Not very long," she admitted.
