Completion: Incomplete
Adison returned to the lab from a long round of draws. "Couple of timed draws here," she told the lab tech, then turned to pick up her next orders.
"Adison, hold on," the tech said, and she realized that it was Jeff, the supervisor. She turned, suddenly nervous. She knew she hadn't done anything wrong--unless she had.
"Yes?" Adison asked politely, not letting the scowl she felt show on her face. She wished she had a more masculine, or at least androgynous voice. She felt like a guy today, damn it, that's why her breasts were bound and she was wearing unisex scrubs rather than cute feminine scrubs.
"When was your last break?" Jeff asked.
Adison bit her lip, thinking. "I... haven't had one yet today, actually. I was going to take one after the--"
"Take one now," Jeff insisted. "You've been on for six hours already. Go get a sandwich and a coffee or something. I don't want to wear out my most promising new phleb."
Adison grinned at the compliment. Her coworkers might dump the hard draws and the crappy shifts on her whenever possible, but Jeff was a nice guy. "Thanks, Jeff," she said, stopping by the sink to wash her hands.

The cafeteria was crowded. A lot of employees took their lunch breaks after the patients had their lunch; lunch was a busy time, but right afterward was pretty slow.
Adison, feeling more comfortable in herself now that she didn't have to listen to her own girly voice, grabbed a sandwich and coffee. She knew anyone who knew her would recognize her, but anyone who didn't--and that was still most of the hospital--would just see another guy. A short guy, maybe, but just a guy. She dumped obscene amounts of creamer and sugar into her coffee to make it tolerable. The coffee was terrible, but the kitchen actually made a pretty decent egg salad.
Half an hour! An entire half hour just to sit... well, if she could find a chair.
She hovered for a little while, then zeroed in on a group of MDs just vacating. She snagged the table triumphantly, brushing away a few crumbs they'd left.
