It was probably a good thing that Charlie was going back to work soon because Hermione could easily get spoiled to leaving Quin at home sometimes when she had to run errands in London. She loved Quin and enjoyed spending time with him, but after the last couple of months, it was nice to have short breaks of time to herself before things went back to normal.
She arrived at the Leaky a few minutes early and found Neville standing in the doorway. She walked up to him and gave him a hug. "Hi, Neville," she said. "Did you want to eat upstairs or go downstairs for more privacy?"
Neville returned the hug, still staring at the changes in the pub. "Thank Merlin you're here," he said, standing away to look at her. "I was afraid I'd walked into the wrong place for a moment. When did all this happen?" He waved one hand, indicating their surroundings.
"Um, downstairs." Neville followed Hermione further inside, still gawking. "Privacy. Privacy is good."
"Tom did some redecorating a few weeks ago," she said with a smile. "It takes a little getting used to but if you look closely, there's still signs of the old pub around. The downstairs, however, is new and quite nice. Quin likes to sit down there when we come here now because he enjoys watching drunk people play darts."
She laughed and led Neville down the stairs. She scanned the room and found a booth in a corner away from everyone. She didn't plan to question Neville about the break up because she was trying to be better about interfering where she wasn't wanted, but if he did want to talk, she'd rather no one else be around to overhear.
"It must've happened while I was in France." Neville sat down, folding his hands on the table. "It's a definite improvement. I just need to relearn my way around."
He waited until Hermione had also taken a seat. "Quin's not with you? How did you manage that?"
Reaching for a menu, Neville opened it and looked over the offerings. Even the menu was different.
Everything seemed to have changed. It was disconcerting.
"If you let it go too long, you might not get another chance," she said gently. "I'm married to a Weasley who definitely has that temper, remember? Really, it's mostly a tanty with a lot of loud words and growling, but it doesn't last that long when it comes to those they love. I think, if you're serious about seeing if things will work, you shouldn't wait too long or it will just make it more difficult in the long run

"I'll try," Neville said, spearing a chunk of meat with his fork. "I don't know what his training schedule is like right now, since I've been away. I may have to stop by the house sometime soon and hope he's both home and that he doesn't slam the door in my face, metaphorically speaking

"All you can do is try," she said. "I doubt he'd slam the door in your face, though. If he does, well, I hate to say it, but it would seem that you were right about the relationship being over."
"I'm sure you'll enjoy the opera. If anything, you can see a lot of different people and enjoy their reactions. I'm a big fan of people watching," she said with a smile.
Hermione smiled. "I'll let you know if he gives me any trouble. Since I remember how horrible it was to be restricted and unable to work, I understand if he wants to get caught up, so long as he doesn't put himself at risk. It's been a rough couple of months, and I think we're both ready for things to get back to normal. As for dinner, any night is usually fine. We don't get out very much and, if we do, it's usually just a trip here for dinner occasionally."
"You're probably right." Ron wouldn't really slam the door, would he? Neville was no longer certain. "I guess I'll find out in a few days, won't I
