  • The Prestige
Christian Bale. Hugh Jackman. Christopher Nolan.

I only have to see those names together and I go nuts. The film is The Prestige, based on the World Fantasy Award (1996) winning novel of the same name by Christopher Priest. And it has a very interesting synopsis...

    hoorah Victoriana! )

Mm... Hugh Jackman. I haven't seen enough of him lately. So, is that what he's been up to? Huh.

He's been working on X3. And (I'm guessing) probably on stage/musical stuff.

Ah. Wolverine. I'd forgotten.

Isn't he in production on Darren Aronofsky's (Pi, Requiem for a Dream) movie co-starring Rachel Weisz, "The Fountain?" (It may be completed at this point).

It's a cosmic puzzle of a love story spanning like 1000 years (a la the ending of 2001: A Space Odyssey without the dated Trip-ness). I got to read a draft of it - a real mind-bender.

I know! :)

It's a regular Alias get-together.

The book's fantastic. Eerie, moody, a slow sinister burn of a novel, and back when magic still had a sense of, well, magic to it. The novel's got a great sense of time and place, and I can absolutely and easily envision Messengers Bale and Jackman in the roles.

Hee! The Kitchen Confidential tidbit made me giggle insanely. Although what's the "late of Alias" business?! (Not that I'm complaining.)

Oh shit. You didn't know? I'm afraid I forgot all about the spoiler warning. But yes, Vaughn is DEAD. Or, as dead as people tend to be on Alias when they've been shot in the chest about 20 times.

Ah, well, we all knew it was going to happen. I personally think it should've happened in season three, which in my mind might have revived the show...

True, true. It should have happened sooner. But look down-thread -- there is singing! and dancing! and much rejoicing nonetheless. :)

It is indeed a time of celebration. I can only say that it is LONG overdue.

Ode to Vaughn

That fair-haired moron,
That one we hate so well,
Has now come to rest,
Has now gone to hell.

We first got to know him,
As puppy-eyed CIA-flunky,
And now - I'm sure - we all wish,
We could have traded him for a real dog.
A real beast.
Something infinitely more spunky.

But now that he's dead,
(20 shots in the chest)
We find ourselves in mourning.
But at least we will no longer have to watch,
All that Sydney-fawning.

Ha. Forget meter, rhyme... anything right. I'm just daaaancing on his grave. Is that too macabre for me? Maybe I should tone it down.
