Author's Notes: I tried to find a Chinese equivalent to the saying which River quotes, but in the end I had to stick with Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. It is taken from his Flight to Arras.

River/Mal, just a hint of it.

Weepful space tears, which I am weeping. How fitting that River be the one to survive all this; she who in some ways gets to keep her innocence, when Simon has sold his away for her sake.

I like this line: The ship’s captain was a good man; he will be good again. His mind has a steadiness that brings River peace. I think Serenity's simple honesty is the only real home the Tams could ever find. I don't think this is Simon's failure. I think he would call any happiness of hers a success.

I went all sad-eyed and weepy on the train when I thought this; of Simon haunting River (only not really haunting) because, omg I killed SIMON! On the other hand, heh. I'd never written 2nd person for someone who only exists in his sister's head before. :D

I think he would call any happiness of hers a success.

I think Simon realises this, at the last. I'm not a Mal/River shipper, but it just fit. As in, I didn't see an alternative. *facepalm*

Bill Mudron does a comic called Pan, which is amazingly fantastic but only updated every once in a blue moon on the eve of the cornhusking festival. As in, not very often.
