Her feet moved to the music filtering through the compound from the jukebox. She turned, her skirt billowing out and ringing with the sound of the tiny bells she had sewn on to it. Moving her hips she raised her hands in the air as the twins chirped happily at the sight of their mother dancing and smiling in front of them. Clapping her hands she ( Read more... )

Ray could have done without the music and the shouting and the dancing today. His head felt like he'd spent the last 48 hours attached to a vodka drip despite not having touched a drop of alcohol in weeks.

Pushing the fruit salad bowl away, he jabbed at four sausages with a fork and brought them onto his plate. Needless to say his attempts at cleansing after New Year weren't going very well. Maybe they were withdrawal symptons. Maybe his body needed booze and this was its retaliation. It was just unfortunate that it wasn't Lew Ashby's turn to make breakfast because word had spread quickly of his orange juice surprise.

Ray rubbed at his temple to soothe the migraine and winced as the girl baby started with the noise again. "Shhhhhh," he muttered, even though he couldn't be heard. "Calming sounds. Caaaalming sounds."

"No! No! No!" Abby C shouted as Ray tried to get them both to calm down. Del thought that was like asking the ocean to be less Wet. Quite impossible really.

Del shook her heard meaning no as she slid her hand underneath Ray's chin and smiled Evily at him. He deserved everything he got. Evil, evil baldman.

"Nope Baldman not unless you pay the toll." Del said, twirling as she continued to make noise and dance.

Ray removed Delirium's hand from his face as gently as he could without being rude. He had no clue why he'd warranted the look she'd given him and it showed in his expression.

"My name's Ray," he corrected, taking the side of his fork to a sausage and dividing it up into pieces.

"Baldman," Delirium corrected. Delirium placed her hand on his head and tiptoed her fingers across it giggling as she went. Delirium wondered how long he would last before she broke him. "Have you seen my Asher?"

Helen didn't often pop into the kitchen for breakfast but the sound of some Punjabi pop song halted her and caught her attention. There was a woman there, wild haired, dancing with small children. That caught her attention and she slipped inside, eschewing the coffee for tea.

"Good morning," she said pleasantly, smiling.

Del turned, looking at pretty dark hair and then everything else that was attached to it. Del's mouth went slack, making a small oh before she smiled and smiled brightly at her. She knew that hair and that smile, she had seen them both waiting for Will (her new needleman friend.)

"Hiiii," Del replied bounding over and looking up, up at her. "We're dancing, dancing for Sol and the dawn and your hair is pretty. Can I touch it?"

"My hair?" Helen asked, frowning a little in confusion. She touched it herself, trying to decide what on earth was fascinating about it right at the moment. "I don't have anything in it, do I?"

Damned long hair. She should braid it more often.

"Mmmhmm eternity," Del said smiling brightly at her. Her fingers hovering as if she wanted to touch but she was trying to be good. "But apart from that nooooo.... I just want to braid it."

Stephen sat as far away from the chaos as he could get while still being near enough to the food to eat like a starving man. The only reason he didn't comment on the Obviously Not English song was because he didn't want to call attention to himself.

Since he usually lived for attention, this was still an odd thing. But Del's craziness overrode the need for validation, some days.

"Stephen!" Delirium said spotting Stephen and moved across the kitchen. Smiling happily she climbed onto his lap, pushing and pinching and elbowing him as she made herself comfortable. Patting his hair and snuggling his chest, Delirium was being more affectionate of Stephen than she normally did. However she was only being more affectionate because she planned to get him out of his clothes and then bedazzle them. "Hi Stephen. Favourite Stephen. Precious Stephen. Can I take your jacket?"

Well, that plan sure went to Hell fast. It always did around her, not that that kept Stephen from trying.

"What? No! No you can not take my jacket!" It was difficult, but he managed to close said jacket more tightly around himself as if it would protect both him and it. "I need it!"

"I'll bring it back," Delirium said smiling sweetly as she played with his tie. Delirium was in a fantastic mood and even Stephen's high pitched squeak of indignation could bring her down. "It's hot, you don't need it if it's hot."

"I don't understand a word you just sang," said Priestly as he reached for the steaming bread, "but it was pretty as hell. Well, okay, I understood about three words of that, but I don't think they count. Can I break off a piece of this or are we doing that conventional slicing thing with it?"

"Forget everything and dance with me," Del sang along to the music as she bopped around Priestly and his most magnificent hair. Delirium giggled when he said conventional because honestly this morning she had wanted to make curry and ice cream for breakfast and had only just managed to put something sembling a normal breakfast together. "Break, break, break away. We don't- I don't like conventional it makes my skin crawl. All wrong and gooey and bleurgh."

"Works for me," says Priestly, ripping off a piece of fresh bread, so fresh it was still hot against his fingertips. "I think I'll skip the dancing, though. Too much food to eat and too few limbs."

"You should try being a butterfly that's fun but no thumbs makes eating and drinking human things hard. Butterflies are missing out on bread," Del said smiling. She liked being butterflies though, sometimes she thought if she just let go enough then she would explode into butterflies like old times. But no matter what she did that never seemed to happen anymore. "Oh, we could dance after the food? And then we could get the pretty lady and she can dance with us too. And everyone can dance."
