Adrian, over time, had been slowly been worried about his lazy status upon the Island. He was able to keep his speed in shape and his agility, of course, but without a casual opponent every once in a while, he slowly began to think his reflexes were diminishing. Of course he had Bubastis and a hunt every now and then, but it never compared ( Read more... )

Saffron stood watching Adrian silently for a while, not saying anything just yet, though she knew he was more than likely aware of her presence. "Very nice," she commented when he was through. She had a feeling that had only been a glimpse of his full ability, and regretted not having experience with the weapon he was using so she could experience his skill in full.

Adrian allowed a mild and demure smile, not wanting to give off too much emotion in the event that she misinterpreted it as actual enjoyment of her being there. "If I don't keep my skills in shape, then they'll merely be lost. And after all, I have little else to do with my time."

"Good point," she agreed. "I try to do the same thing myself."

She picked up one of the other three sticks, hefting it in her hands. "I don't have much experience with these," Saffron commented. She'd done a little with Cort, but not much.

"Neither do I." He neglected to mention that it mattered little regarding the weapon. The important aspect was the body's muscles and their reflexes and speed. He needed only to know how to move and the weapon would follow. "I thought perhaps I could inspire myself to learn."

Adrian knew it was mediocre enough and while a part of him was rather disappointed with it, he would rather keep his skills hidden in the event that he required them. "Have you seen better?"

None of what the man said meant a thing to Adrian and his politeness began to fade away. After all, when it bore little consequence to him, he found his disinterest starting to grow. "Well, then, it seems as though what you've seen could fill a fairytale," Adrian noted, an edge of condescension to his tone.

Dressed in black yoga pants and a tank top, Felicia looks as close to Puritanical as she is ever going to get outside of climbing gear. Even then she's known for leaving to the imagination when it comes to comfort and function.

Stopping in her routine surveillance of the compound and the area around it, she smirks at the routine, more than the guy. She's met him before, but she'd be damned if she remembers his name. Something Biblical-ish. Like Adam or Enoch.

"And what are we up to today?" she asks, hands on her hips.

"Maintaining figure." He glanced up and looked her over, allowing something of a feline-like smile that appears on his face easily. "Something I'm sure that you have quite the experience in." His words were mild enough that they weren't utterly catty, but came mildly close.

"Only just a little."

By that she means a lot. No happy-go-lucky island is going to keep Felicia out of being in prime fighting weight. Just because people like to give things away and volunteer and other horrifying things doesn't mean she has to relax.

"But not as much as some."

He leaned over idly and smoothly, with the grace of a man who spent his days walking regally and not fighting, and grasped one of the sticks. Without worrying about trajectory or force, he tossed it over to her, expecting a catch. "Well, then. Show me what you know."

Emma moved forward as he finished, reaching up to brush Adrian's hair from his eyes with a smile. "Not bad," she said, though some part of her felt he must have been capable of still more. He wasn't the kind of man to do things halfway. "Keeping your hand in, I take it?" She made the same effort herself, though unarmed. When she couldn't use her mind, she relied on her body, nothing else needed (though she wasn't opposed to the occasional weapon).

He quirked a brow as he glanced over his shoulder at her, straightening his posture to avoid slouching and appearing lazy or lackadaisical about his training. "Fighting an invisible opponent doesn't require sternness in technique." And beyond that, he didn't wish to go against anyone and end up...well, in prison, he supposed, for taking it too far.

"There's never a reason not to be on top of your game," Emma answered, shaking her head. There was also, she guessed, no reason to tell Adrian that. She felt sure there was more to him even than she had already seen, and while some part of her wanted to know all of it for the sake of keeping ahead of the curve, she felt sure that pushing and prodding was no way to make progress with him. She just circled around him, smiling. "In the mood for someone a little more solid?

"I don't need to hurt you to prove myself, Emma," Adrian noted mildly, feeling quite older in his years as he explained that, even though he was more than sure that she understood. "But perhaps if you wanted to go through the paces of a practice routine, I wouldn't be averse."

To watch men train was not a strange or unusual thing on the island, for all they might claim it was free of dangers. Still, I knew this man, and remembered what he had said, that he wanted to be like Alexander. So I watched him for a moment, just to see how close he was.

Adrian finished and allowed himself a long moment of calming his breathing before he straightened his posture and turned to regard Bagoas, arching his brow smoothly. "Well," he announced with a sly smile, pleased to see his company. "Are you enjoying yourself?"

I might have been just a little cheeky, but the question demanded it. "Why? I'm not the one doing anything," I pointed out, but with a smile, all the same. "I should be asking that of you."

"I find myself far more pleased now that I know you're here," Adrian replied, glad to have the repartee and the opportunity to impress Bagoas. "Do you believe yourself to be an athlete, Bagoas?"
