Adrian, over time, had been slowly been worried about his lazy status upon the Island. He was able to keep his speed in shape and his agility, of course, but without a casual opponent every once in a while, he slowly began to think his reflexes were diminishing. Of course he had Bubastis and a hunt every now and then, but it never compared ( Read more... )

Dressed in black yoga pants and a tank top, Felicia looks as close to Puritanical as she is ever going to get outside of climbing gear. Even then she's known for leaving to the imagination when it comes to comfort and function.

Stopping in her routine surveillance of the compound and the area around it, she smirks at the routine, more than the guy. She's met him before, but she'd be damned if she remembers his name. Something Biblical-ish. Like Adam or Enoch.

"And what are we up to today?" she asks, hands on her hips.

"Maintaining figure." He glanced up and looked her over, allowing something of a feline-like smile that appears on his face easily. "Something I'm sure that you have quite the experience in." His words were mild enough that they weren't utterly catty, but came mildly close.

"Only just a little."

By that she means a lot. No happy-go-lucky island is going to keep Felicia out of being in prime fighting weight. Just because people like to give things away and volunteer and other horrifying things doesn't mean she has to relax.

"But not as much as some."

He leaned over idly and smoothly, with the grace of a man who spent his days walking regally and not fighting, and grasped one of the sticks. Without worrying about trajectory or force, he tossed it over to her, expecting a catch. "Well, then. Show me what you know."

Catch it is exactly what she did. It didn't even require thought. It was an object flying towards her and it was either that or duck.

Felicia tries to avoid the coward's way out more often than not. Swinging it around, she makes an easy loop with one hand before stopping and holding it in both, her grip just light enough to make it deadly.

"Got any requests?"

"Let's not break our own backs trying to prove our superiority to each other on a meagre place where it doesn't matter," he requested, confident enough in his own skills that he didn't see the necessity in assaulting a practice too heavily. "Paces?" he asked.

"Sweetheart, any backs I am going to break won't be mine."

Despite the term of endearment, there is no affection in her voice. Her sarcasm leeches right through and takes all of that away.

"But I understand what you mean," she says as she starts working through the steps that she memorized so long ago it feels secondhand.

He enjoyed the tone, finding it refreshing after so many friendly faces and warmer promises. Humanity is a reminder of all the facets -- good and bad -- that he witnessed and a fairer judgment of a world he was trying to save. He watched, only stepping in when he found he could, hitting beats and defending strikes before offering his own.

Her mother had often told her that sarcasm was just laziness in disguise but Felicia had grown up to appreciate it was a lot easier to use than anything else. Like the truth or niceness. Those things were mostly wasted anyways.

Slowly to a minor halt a smile flickers across her face. "Just say when."

"You won't hear that from me so soon," Adrian easily replied, not in the least breathless as they continued to spar. "Do you take me for an average male? Inadequate?" He clucked his tongue mildly at her, disappointed to be grouped in with the rest.

"I could. But inadequate is definitely the way to describe the average male."

Most guys weren't exactly playing with a full deck of cards. They could try to impress her but most of the time it was just boring. Picking up the pace a little, her smirk readily in place.

"I'm not average, you remember?" Adrian said simply, arching his back into a graceful posture as he continued to match her, quick as he could be. "And neither are you, I'm beginning to see." He was able to give credit where it was due, as a matter of fact.

"I do indeed."

Average was boring. It was being alright with coming in second place rather than making any sort of effort to make all those behind her sad in their inadequacy. Always be number one, that's what her father had taught her and Felicia has yet to prove him wrong.

He continued and knew that he wouldn't tire and likely neither would she. It would grow terribly boring very quickly though and he lifted hands in an attempt to show the desire to break. "We're never going to stop if we keep attempting to outdo the other."

"Probably true."

Eventually one of them would get hurt either out of carelessness or a desire to break the mould. Felicia isn't about to make a bet on which one that would be. Instead she slows to a gentle halt, arms hanging loosely by her sides.

"You know, I think we both know that this would be far more rewarding if it were us against someone. Or something," he clarified, a slow smile building on his lips. "Shall we find ourselves something to take our frustrations out upon?"
