It was late, and Maureen was walking back to Bohemia after a performance at the club. She had no idea where she'd put the sandals she'd been wearing when she'd come in earlier that night - after searching all over the dressing room area she'd finally given up, and so she was teetering on the path in stilettos. Okay, not teetering, really - she ( Read more... )

Scotty's on his way back from yoga, feeling refreshed if a little bit sore. He'd stopped off by the kitchen to get a light snack, maybe some fruit for the morning so he could sleep in a little bit. It's dark out and that always makes him a little nervous -- living in LA tends to make one paranoid about walking around alone at night, and somehow being surrounded by woods just makes him of every horror movie to take place out in the woods. With Halloween coming up and people murmuring about the island doing something crazy, Scotty can't say he isn't a little bit on the terrified side that he'll find an axe murderer or a clown on his way back to Bohemia.

When he finds a half-naked Maureen, her breasts are almost as startling in the night as an axe-wielding clown. At least for the first few seconds.

"Maureen," he greets, coming over to help her pick up her stuff. "Nice outfit. So I guess you can streetwalk without a street."

To her credit, Maureen was actually a little embarrassed. But she laughed it off and cinched the robe around her waist. "Entirely unintentional, I assure you. Though thank you. Are you heading home? I could use an escort."

He grins and does a short bow, offering up his arm. "Your wish is my command. I'd be honored to escort a lady such as yourself home on such a dark night," he says teasingly, laughing softly. Leaning in, he lowers his voice to whisper, "Actually, I was starting to freak myself out. I hate walking out here late at night. I keep thinking some serial murderer is going to jump out of the trees and take my skin for his perfect man-suit."

"It is a pretty magnificent suit," Maureen said cheerfully. "How about I escort you then?" She winked. "You could even invite me in. I promise I won't try anything." She'd actually kind of been wanting a chance to bend his ear.

"...And I didn't even have to sign up for community service," Owen remarked, coming across Maureen on the path. He'd been wandering, not wanting to sleep, but not wanting to sit around the compound either.

Mostly he'd just been bloody bored.

Maureen straightened up and cinched the robe around her waist as she turned to look at him. "Well, then just consider that a free sample," she said with a smirk, and bent down to pick up her bag and sling it over her shoulder again.

Glancing down at her shoes, Owen couldn't help but raise both eyebrows.

"Though you might want to rethink your shoes. Don't think I'm patching you up when you wind up spraining both ankles."

"Yeah, I guess they're not really made for off-road, hmm? Oh, to hell with it." She leaned over again and unhooked the shoes then took them off, dangling from her fingers and setting her bare feet in the dirt. "Of course, I could step on a nail now. Six of one, half dozen of the other."

Maureen straightened up and cinched the robe at her waist before giving him a sheepish smile. "Yeah, I'm fine," she said. "Turns out these things aren't made for off-road." She bent over and picked up her bag, slung it over her shoulder again.

Maureen wasn't embarrassed about having flashed him, but having been caught stumbling in high heels was an entirely different story.

She looked down at her shoes and sighed. "You're right," she said. "Here, do you mind?" She held out the bag for him so that she could take off her shoes. "Nah, I don't think it's bad, I just need to wash it. Though if you'd like to escort me home... it is dark. I'm not far from here."

Call it a wandering heart, but Jim still feels the need to explore a little, which is how he comes to be wandering and...you know, sometimes, you get incontrovertible proof that something in the universe loves you. His Mom raised him too well to stare, which doesn't mean he doesn't catch a good look before he averts his eyes.

"Need a little help, ma'am?" he asks.

Maureen cinched the robe around her waist before replying, though by the time she got a good look at him she thought maybe she should have let him have a second look. Hel-lo.

"You'd think I would have mastered the art of walking by now, right?" she laughed. She leaned down and picked up her bag. "This will serve as a good lesson, I'll never lose my street shoes again."

"Hey. We all let ourselves down from time to time." He extends one hand, offering to take the bag from her, giving her a full wattage James T. Kirk grin.

"Can't say I'm sorry to be around to witness it."

Maureen laughed again and handed him the bag. "Well, then I suppose I'll forgo my embarrassment for now and just be glad that I gave you a thrill." She smirked. "I've always depended on the kindness of strangers. I don't suppose you'd be willing to escort me home in case I find myself faceplanting into another tree on the way?"

Bill didn't work on Mondays, but that didn't mean he wasn't out late. The nights were getting a bit cooler, but that didn't stop him from walking about outside in nothing more than a thin t-shirt and jeans. He'd been raised in England, after all, and he was used to weather much colder than this.

"Do I hear a damsel in distress?" he said, lightly teasing, as he came upon Maureen in time to hear her 'ow'.

Maureen turned, not bothering to cinch her robe - it was Bill, after all. "Maybe just a little bit of one," she said with a smirk. She held up her hand. "Hardly a scratch. But if you really want to rescue me... I suppose I could use an escort home."

"I'm surprised you've not twisted your ankle, trying to walk in those shoes," Bill replied as he offered Maureen his arm. "I don't know how you birds do it, really."

"Well, most of them are smart enough not to take shoes like this off-road," Maureen snorted. But she took his arm before starting off towards Bohemia. "I misplaced my sandals at the club. Or maybe someone else took off with them..."
