Because happy is what happens When all your dreams come true!

Everything was perfect! There were streamers in pink and green and yellow and punch and refreshments. Elphaba had found another dress in Glinda's closet that was Just Perfect as well--perfectly pink with satin and beading and ruffles. She and her friends had worked very very hard on this party and she just knew it was going to be the best one ( Read more... )

Informed gleefully of her best! friend! Elphie's! party, by "Maggie", Dick manages a straight face. It takes all of his training to do it, since Elphaba and Morgan usually hiss like wet cats when they're within fifteen feet of each other. "Maggie", she insists he call her that, also pleads with him please, Dick, please won't you come, they're my best friends ever in the world and we have to go, but Tim will get mad and...please? to attend.

A party is a party, Tim's hands are full with Kon, and Dick's better with women anyway. He shows up with a bright smile and his usual good humor. If it's a little frayed around the edges from Kon, Clark, Bart, Maggie, and fending off his boss's advances for Warrick's own sake, no one but Donna, Tim, or Babs would really know it.

Dick! Dick was here!

Elphaba ran across the green green lawn and flung herself bodily at Dick, arms around his neck and planted a kiss firmly on his mouth. "You came! I'm so glad you came!" Her hug went dangerously, oxygen-threateningly tight and then she dropped back to her feet again, bouncing with delight. Her voluminous satin dress bounced with her, like a pink cloud.

"Oof," Dick answers inelegantly, laughing at this suddenly sunny version of Elphaba. He probably should've known from the way "Maggie" was acting, but imagining Elphaba as a ray of sunshine challenged him even more than a perilously stupid and cheerful Morgan.

He catches her up in his arms, willing to go along with it rather than hurting her feelings and twirls her around. "I wouldn't miss it for the world, sweetheart. Congratulations."

The worst part about this is that he's genuinely happy for her.

She beamed, genuinely happy and excited to see him there. Not only was he H-O-T HOT but he also was one of the most popular people on the island. Like Jack!

"Have you seen Jack?" Elphaba asked, as she thought of him, blinking her large dark eyes up at Dick. "He promised me a party for my anniversary." She giggled, "Of course, I'm having a party!"

Once Fiyero was there, the party was perfect! But oh my, it was a lot of work to be a hostess for an important party like an engagement. She wondered if she was going to have to make a speech. Elphaba wasn't any good at speeches but everyone loved to listen to her anyway because she knew all about being popular.

As anyone arrived (or wandered close enough much to their chagrin) Elphaba made certain that she greeted them and thanked them for coming. From the point of view of the "guest" it was rather like being attacked by a shrill, pink cream puff.

Strictly speaking, he had no issues with cream puffs, pink or otherwise. As an edible object, they tasted delicious. As a projectile human female, they were usually quite fun. He could, however, do without the shrillness. That grated just a bit, but he managed to maintain a smile regardless.

"Would I miss a spectacular party organized by a lady as lovely as yourself?"

"Oh! Oh, you're Maggie's ex sweetie!" Elphaba's dark eyes widened like she hadn't met him the night before. Maybe she just didn't remember that part. She gave him an explosive hug and then a solid kiss on the mouth. "Thank you for coming to my party. I hoped that you would!"

Maggie. Why had he never thought to call her that? At the least, it would have been spectacular to see her face when he did it. 'Ex-sweetie' worked well enough for him--although even if it hadn't, he wouldn't have had a hope to voice complaint through the woman's enthusiastic hug.

He grinned, making certain he was extracted from her grip--just in case she felt the need to hug him again, she would be more likely to start from scratch, rather than dial it up. "I try not to disappoint, Darlin'."

"Ohhhh." Morgan looks around, eyes big and wide with de...de...happiness. She claps her hands together and bounces on her toes. It's perfect. The party is swankified splendiferous just like Elphie said it should be and Morgan is SO de...HAPPY for her.

Delirium's name used to be that other word but she can't remember it even though her boobs tingle. She's not going to try either because she'll just get a headache or get sad. Then she'll cry and her face will be blotchy and ugly and red only looks good in a dress not in blotches on her face. And, she doesn't know very much but she knows red doesn't match lavender.

And she has on a lavender dress. Cam likes lavender dresses on her. Even if he's not her boyfriend anymore. Maybe she'll get one. Maybe Harry will be here. He might like lavender. She'll ask him. If she remembers. Her dress isn't AS pretty as Elphie's but it's Elphie's party and another thing she knows is you're not supposed to outshine the bride. But her dress is pretty anyway, and she likes it ( ... )

"MAGGIE!!!" Elphaba squealed and then clapped her hand over her mouth as her best friend fell over. She caught her and tumbled right over with her as the other woman's taller form just knocked her right off balance. "Whoops! Are you okay, Maggie?"

"Ow." Morgan rubs her side. Her best friend has sharp elbows. Like pokey sticks. That makes her laugh. Pokey sticks in a pink dress. She can't stop giggling even though she and Elphie are tangled up in a heap until she has to clap her hands over her mouth.

Hiccup. She giggles more. Hiccup. Hiccup. "Oh-hick-no-hick, hick!" Her eyes when she looks at Elphie are as big and round as saucers and soon she's laughing and hiccuping so hard she can't breathe.

Truthfully, he didn't actually recognize the spinning woman at first--and given the last spinning woman he'd come across, he hesitated for a few moments before shrugging off the concern, and making his way toward her. He'd just registered who it was, when she lost her balance and careened into him.

Fortunately for everyone involved, his reflexes were faithful, and he was able to catch her by her shoulders and steady her before her crash could potentially unbalance him, or send either of them into unsuspecting people.

"Careful there, Sugar, or you'll pass out.?

Was it just his own aversion to participating in the lighter side of the island manifesting in an unfamiliarity with it, or were the parties more frequent than usual over the past few days? Not that he had any issue with this whatsoever. Romantic celebrations did half of his job for him, and celebrations in general usually meant free refreshments.

It meant, at the very least, that he needn't worry about entertaining himself for a bit.

It was impossible to miss the impromptu celebration in front of the Compound, and he couldn't help investigating once he'd seen it. Traditionally, one did not hold a party in quite so public a place as where he'd found it if they wanted privacy. Even should they, he was willing to gamble on crashing it successfully--he was very good at that, after all. Frederica had loved to crash parties.

Speaking of old, dearly missed brides, it seemed that this was some sort of celebration for a wedding in itself. It made him nostalgic for Trina. She would have enjoyed a free and loose reception like this one.

The nostalgia of his so recently departed bride was enough to drive him to search for the punch bowl, and hope for something with a powerful kick.
