Everything was perfect! There were streamers in pink and green and yellow and punch and refreshments. Elphaba had found another dress in Glinda's closet that was Just Perfect as well--
perfectly pink with satin and beading and ruffles. She and her friends had worked very very hard on this party and she just knew it was going to be the best one

A party is a party, Tim's hands are full with Kon, and Dick's better with women anyway. He shows up with a bright smile and his usual good humor. If it's a little frayed around the edges from Kon, Clark, Bart, Maggie, and fending off his boss's advances for Warrick's own sake, no one but Donna, Tim, or Babs would really know it.

Elphaba ran across the green green lawn and flung herself bodily at Dick, arms around his neck and planted a kiss firmly on his mouth. "You came! I'm so glad you came!" Her hug went dangerously, oxygen-threateningly tight and then she dropped back to her feet again, bouncing with delight. Her voluminous satin dress bounced with her, like a pink cloud.

He catches her up in his arms, willing to go along with it rather than hurting her feelings and twirls her around. "I wouldn't miss it for the world, sweetheart. Congratulations."
The worst part about this is that he's genuinely happy for her.

"Have you seen Jack?" Elphaba asked, as she thought of him, blinking her large dark eyes up at Dick. "He promised me a party for my anniversary." She giggled, "Of course, I'm having a party!"

As anyone arrived (or wandered close enough much to their chagrin) Elphaba made certain that she greeted them and thanked them for coming. From the point of view of the "guest" it was rather like being attacked by a shrill, pink cream puff.

"Would I miss a spectacular party organized by a lady as lovely as yourself?"

He grinned, making certain he was extracted from her grip--just in case she felt the need to hug him again, she would be more likely to start from scratch, rather than dial it up. "I try not to disappoint, Darlin'."

Delirium's name used to be that other word but she can't remember it even though her boobs tingle. She's not going to try either because she'll just get a headache or get sad. Then she'll cry and her face will be blotchy and ugly and red only looks good in a dress not in blotches on her face. And, she doesn't know very much but she knows red doesn't match lavender.
And she has on a lavender dress. Cam likes lavender dresses on her. Even if he's not her boyfriend anymore. Maybe she'll get one. Maybe Harry will be here. He might like lavender. She'll ask him. If she remembers. Her dress isn't AS pretty as Elphie's but it's Elphie's party and another thing she knows is you're not supposed to outshine the bride. But her dress is pretty anyway, and she likes it ( ... )

Hiccup. She giggles more. Hiccup. Hiccup. "Oh-hick-no-hick, hick!" Her eyes when she looks at Elphie are as big and round as saucers and soon she's laughing and hiccuping so hard she can't breathe.

Fortunately for everyone involved, his reflexes were faithful, and he was able to catch her by her shoulders and steady her before her crash could potentially unbalance him, or send either of them into unsuspecting people.
"Careful there, Sugar, or you'll pass out.?

It meant, at the very least, that he needn't worry about entertaining himself for a bit.

Speaking of old, dearly missed brides, it seemed that this was some sort of celebration for a wedding in itself. It made him nostalgic for Trina. She would have enjoyed a free and loose reception like this one.
The nostalgia of his so recently departed bride was enough to drive him to search for the punch bowl, and hope for something with a powerful kick.
