Hiro had been on the island for several weeks now. He couldn't believe it had almost been a month. It seemed like every day his 'celebrity' sighting list got longer and longer. He was happy enough with his life on the island, but he wouldn't be upset if his powers saw fit to start working again. He really had a lot to catch Ando up on

"I apologize," he said. "I wasn't trying to scare people. What floor?" he asked, stepping completely into his new found role.

"I've been doing that all day," he shared.

"Oh, damn." She glared at the figure in th lift. "Hiro Nakamura! What the hell do you think you're doin' in there?"
Reply
"Oh, do you need some help?" he said. He'd been so caught up with his elevator operator job that he hadn't noticed her laundry immediately.

"You nearly scared me out of my skin, Hiro. You can't just go yelling at people."
Reply
"I wasn't yelling, Charlie. I was just exclaiming happily," he said. "Yatta!" he demonstrated at a lower pitch. "See?"

She just didn't expect to be startled out of her mind when the doors opened. "Jesus Christ!" When she got her breath back, Karen stared at the person standing in the elevator. "Hiro?"

She darted inside when the elevator door began to close. "I'm Karen Filippelli, we met about a year ago, probably. I gave you a Wonder Woman comic, you told me Rogue from the X-Men was here, and thus, a friendship was born."
Reply
"I wonder what Other Me did with that comic." He would love to read it when Charlie's hut was particularly quiet. "Nice to meet you, again, Karen Filippelli."

He'd spent eight months on the island, and hadn't even done anything particularly underhanded. The way Hiro talked, the man should have been surprised he didn't control the entire island by now. Delusions, however, were never the most rational of things, and often proved remarkably resilient against things like logic and common sense ( ... )

"Going up?" he finally asked, though with less enthusiasm than he'd had all day.

"You didn't expect me to be conveniently disappeared, did you?" He shook his head slightly, frowning. "Are you going to stand in there all day, Hiro?"
Reply
"Only until you decide which floor," he insisted.

Kaylee wandered up to take a look, curious and dying to make use of the new novelty, never mind the place she game from had technology far in advance, and space travel, elevator rides were fun and there were always folk to talk to.
Or sometimes they came to you. To her complete surprise, as she stood waiting for the doors to open someone was there the second they parted and greeted her with a yell. Kaylee herself, did something between a gasp and a yelp. "Wǒde mā!" She put a hand to her chest as if to slow her pounding heart. "You okay in there?" She asked, between concerned and confused. She gripped the door to stop it closing on the guy.
[Wǒde mā! = Oh my god!]

"Yatta!" he exclaimed again. "Hello. I'm Hiro. Are you going up? Or down?" He was ready to press the button for her. Who didn't want to be trapped in an elevator with Jewel Staite after all?
Reply
"Hiya." She grinned brightly, not so worried. You don't meet many this enthusiastic 'bout an elevator. " Nice t'meet y'Hiro I'm Kaylee." She peered in, looking undecided really, a brow arched. "Well t'be honest I ain't got anywhere so particular to go- ..I was just plannin' on takin' a ride." She walked in. "So, I guess it's your pick."

"Ok," he said as he pushed all the buttons. As the doors closed, he turned toward her. "This wasn't here before Saturday," he explained as though being the elevator operator had somehow given him particular insight into the device's mysterious appearance. In fact, he only knew it had appeared suddenly because Glen had said so.
