Cecily could not help but feel that her sense of adventure was dwindling as her time on the island grew. She did not like to think herself as someone quite as drab as either Ms. Prism or Lady Bracknell, but there were days where she felt there was just nothing else to do but something from home, like play the piano... which is exactly what she ( Read more... )

"You never told me you played, did you?" says Jim, after quietly watching her for a little while without her noticing him. "I think I would've remembered if you told me."

Cecily immediately ceased playing at the sound of the voice. It was not that she was embarrassed by her playing, it was just the voice that sounded from behind her. She turned and gave a wide smile. "I am not quite sure, for I do believe I would have told you, but I would not be one to disagree with your memory." She shifted to the side of the piano bench and patted the seat next to her, gesturing for Jim to sit down.

"Maybe you're right, and I was just thinking about other things," says Jim, sliding onto the seat next to her. "Maybe I was too busy looking at your smile."

Cecily thought to herself how she wished to put his kind words into her diary, but instead she gazed into his eyes and bit her bottom lip before leaning in to give him a small and loving kiss.

"Is there anything you would like me to play?"

Adam was never much of one for adventure. Adventure intoned a lack of knowledge--an expedition into the unknown, as it were. Adam never liked to admit to not knowing something, so naturally...he was not much for the traditional form of adventure. But his time on the island was beginning to convince him of one thing for certain.

This would not be a brief stay. He had not given up the determination to get off of the island by his own power, but it had become apparent that the escape would not be quick one. It had also become apparent that he was not fond of the heat in this new island.

To stave off any more uncomfortable situations, and preferably prevent another bloody nose, he had ventured back into the Compound.

The clear sound of notes unspoiled by mockery caught his ear, as he made his way into the rec room. The vision he was greeted with was familiar, though it was a few moments before he registered how.

He gave a light smile. "Miss Cecily?"

Cecily continued to play, but shifted in order to see who was talking, although she was fairly certain she knew who it was. Upon seeing Adam, Cecily gave him a smile to match his, "The very same."

They had never been introduced, but he knew who she was. He couldn't help but be curious- what was it about the muggle, precisely, that made Albus entertain her presence.

He walked over and leaned against the piano and watched her with an inquisitive sort of stare.

Cecily looked up at the young man, drawing her hands from the keys and placing them gently on her lap. "Why, hello there."

"Hello," he returned, flashing an absent sort of smile. "Cecily, isn't it?"

She paused for a moment, a little taken aback by his knowing her name. She looked over him, trying to see if she had forgotten him. "I am terribly sorry, but my memory has seem to be slipping away from me recently. There are so many people on this island and I have found that I do not have the memory for faces that I used to claim. Have we met?"
