Jessica was slowly preparing her cot for her daughter, but it was too early to do everything so she found herself with some time. She was still more tired than usual and so she decided a walk would be good for exercise and perhaps a book to read.

it wasn't very difficult when she came upon the young woman to gather that something was bothering her. "I did not mean to disturb you." The walk had at least helped her gain back some of her energy.

"Do you got a last name?" she blurted. "You know, like, um, what's it called... a surname? A family name? Do they have those where you're from?"

"Many people do, but some do not." The Bene Gesserit usually did not know their parentage so unless they married they only had their given names.

"If it isn't too bold of me may I ask why you are so curious?" It was obvious something was bothering the young woman, but Jessica wasn't entirely sure how that tied into surnames.

"It's really dumb," Becky said, a little weirded out when she realized the chick was like, way classier than her. Like Alcuin but a lady-- not that there was that much difference, bless his heart.

Trance recognized the girl from her classes with Dr. House. She racked her brain for the name. Brenda, Becca, Becky! That was it, Becky. Trance knelt down next to her.

"Becky, are you okay?"

"No," she said. "And before you ask, it's really really dumb, so I'm not sure I wanna tell." She hugged her knees up to her chest and put her chin on them.

"Don't worry," Trance said, putting her hand on Becky's. "The only one here I think is really dumb is my boyfriend." Her smile said she was kidding, of course. "I won't laugh or anything, I promise."

"...I don't have a last name," Becky said with a big sigh. "I... I just don't. It's so weird, and I really didn't even think about it until someone asked. I'm sure that I musta had one at some point. I just can't remember what it could be."
