There were a lot of things that Daenerys Targaryen was skilled at. She could ride a horse better than any man she knew. She could stand her ground in a fight. She could sing sweetly while she plucked at the harp (a newly acquired skill and one that still required practice, but she was fairly good at it). She could embroider though she was still not ( Read more... )

"I don't think I could knit any better," Tosh smiled at the woman, crouching down as best she could to Alys. It likely wasn't true, Tosh was the sort to be able to figure out anything technical, instructions or not.

"Hullo Alys. Is that a horse?" It looked more like a blob, but Owen had told her what it was.

Dany hadn't met the woman before and before she mentioned Alys by name, she was a bit wary of someone crouching down so close to her child. She'd learned to trust people here, of course, but after the insanity from a couple weeks ago (during which she and the baby stayed safely tucked away in their house while Drogon had a time protecting them) she was still a bit shaken.

Clearly this was someone either Billy or Owen knew then and not say some stranger come to take her baby. Most telling of all of this was the fact that the woman seemed to know that it was a horse and not just a blob of colourful fabrics sewn together unevenly. "Mmm, let me guess, someone's told you beforehand what it was supposed to be?" she asked, smiling while Alys simply snored on.

"They would have had to, wouldn't they? Owen is good at many things, but I think toymaking isn't in his repertoire." Tosh smiled warmly at the woman. "I'm Tosh. You're Dany?" She hoped she hadn't mistaken the woman.

"Oh you're Tosh," Dany said brightly. "I've been wondering when I'd finally get to meet you." She tucked a lock of silver blonde hair back behind her ear and extended a hand to the woman as seemed to be the custom of this place. "I am Daenerys, it's a pleasure to finally meet you. Billy's told me so much about you and the work you're doing that I don't quite understand."

Joffrey stood in the door of the recroom, his hands clasped tightly in front of him. Of course the girl would have whelped. Could she not just die like her brothers and her father had? But these thoughts showed not on his face, in fact his expression was contrite, though his words were still clipped. "I have come to make amends."

Now that he was cleaned up, Joffrey looked to be even more the miniature version of Billy than he had been before. It still made Dany sick to think on it, but she couldn't not look at him and appear a coward so she swallowed the bile that rose in her throat and met his gaze stubbornly. "Have you now?" she asked dubiously.

"Yes," But he did not move from the doorway, other than to take one step into the room. "I should not have behaved towards you the way I did. What has happened in our pasts is neither of our faults, and it was wrong of me to treat you so even if i was upset."

He managed to sound at least partially sincere, though his very words galled him.

It was a lucky thing that Dany knew little of Joffrey's rule in Westeros or she may have laughed at his attempt at apology. As it was, she was ignorant in such matters and only knew that the boy king before her had her throne and was supposed to be dead. Being dead hardly fazed Dany anymore. She eyed him warily like a doe misliking the scent of wolf upon a sheep. In the end, it was his appearance alone that won her sympathy for she could never have such strong feelings of hate towards any man who bore a face so similar to the one she held so dear. "Very well, your apology is accepted and I thank you for it, ser."

"Needlework," Lyanna nearly grimaced as she wandered into the rec room, hair wet from a very recent bath. But then she stopped in her tracks the moment she saw the sleeping Alys, as she now tended to do ever since the chaos at the last moon's end.

Watching the scene warily, the she-wolf touched a hand to her own lower belly and then sank down onto the couch.

"Too feminine for you?" Dany replied, laughing at first. Her expression softened and she looked worriedly up at her wolf.

"What ist?" she asked. "Did something happen?"

"Too difficult," Lyanna eventually replied with a shadow of a smile. Soon enough, though, the stretch of her lips became more apparent.

Pleading, even, not to press for answers. "It is done. It matters not. What is that you mean to make? Another blanket?"

"A mess, or so it would seem," Dany said, easily pushing whatever troubled Lyanna out of her mind. If her love wanted her to know then she would know. It would do her no good to press the issue. "I was trying to make a dress in case winter is to come for a time as it did last year."
