There were a lot of things that Daenerys Targaryen was skilled at. She could ride a horse better than any man she knew. She could stand her ground in a fight. She could sing sweetly while she plucked at the harp (a newly acquired skill and one that still required practice, but she was fairly good at it). She could embroider though she was still not very fast at it as she and Viserys had spent much of their time running and not nearly enough learning noble skills. Most importantly, Dany thought, was that she was a good mother. She read to Alys, played with her, took her on walks through the forest pointing out new things while the little girl watched with wide eyed innocence.
One thing Daenerys Targaryen was not particularly skilled at was knitting. She'd found two sweaters knit out of yarn roughly the same width and fashioned some needles out of bamboo. She'd unwound the sweaters into balls and was sitting on the floor of the rec room with a book in front of her entitled Knitting for Dummies. She'd managed to cast on after several unsuccessful tries, but when it came to the actual knitting, all Dany was left with was an ugly knot and not a series of complicated knots that looked pretty. She sighed and looked over at Alys who was curled up on her black and red patchwork blanket and sleeping soundly cuddling up to the stuffed horse that Owen had made for her.
"This isn't going well, sweetling," she said, brushing wayward curly locks out of Alys's face. The babe stirred but didn't wake and Dany smiled down at her. "Though I suppose you care little if I ever do figure out how to make you a pretty dress to wear." At this point, Dany would be lucky if she could come up with a decent looking dishcloth for the child to pull apart, throw around, and chew on.
[[ooc: open to any and all, a terrific time to meet her even if she is feeling a bit helpless when it comes to fibre arts!]]
