He'd been waiting on it for some time, considering that he always figured Jay would sort of beat him to the altar and not the other way around. But he was there and dressed in his very best. Black suit jacket, white shirt, bowtie, and slacks.
"You look lovely, Rob." Padme's lips curved in a smile, and her hand found his. Her own dress was white, of course, and she still didn't come up much past Rob's shoulder.
"Of course I came," Chase promised with a bit of a grin as he extended the folds of paper he'd transcribed for them, just a little piece of poetry about angels and the Doctor had contributed with sketches. "It's for Sola, but it's for both of you too."
"Let's go wake the sleeping princess?" She smiled, and looked down at the paper. "Hold onto it until I get her up?" She half-hugged Chase again, careful not to crumple it. "Thank you, Rob." She moved past him and bent, carefully lifting the baby vertical so that her head rest on her mother's chest, and blue eyes blinked blurrily to life.
Robb hugs Padme tight, without any real care for wrinkling her dress. "I don't think you need it," he says, "but I left some cider on the table there. It's...come a long way, hasn't it? Both of us?"
Padme smiled up at him. "I think I get to claim a dance, if your lady wife won't mind? I think you're the closest thing I've ever had to a brother." She paused, swallowing hard. "It's come a very, very long way. And... I don't think I'd change it for anything."
"I think she'll understand," Robb promises. "Besides, it's your wedding, I'm sure you're allowed to dance with anyone you want to." He smiles, squeezing her again a little. "Good."
Padme smiled, her eyes bright. "I remember when I didn't think I could quite go on. You helped." She ducked her head for a moment, blushing. "Thank you, Robb."
Veronica still wasn't much for weddings, and she didn't know what was up with the island lately. It all seemed to be marriage and babies these days. Still if Padme was happy, well, that was what counted for now. She didn't know Jay well, but he'd always seemed like a nice guy, so she intended to try and hold out something like hope for the pair of them, as best as she actually knew how.
"You know, I never thought you'd actually seem to be happy to be a bridesmaid." Padme's eyes twinkled as she reached for her friend's hand. "You have no idea how much I appreciate you standing with me. You know that, don't you?"
Veronica gave Padme's hand a slight squeeze as she smiled over at her. "I know," she said, nodding. It was why she had agreed to do it at all, still thrown by mentions of marriage these days. Padme had always been there for her; it seemed important to give something small back. "Congratulations, Padme. Jay's a lucky man. And he better remember that, 'cause I know how to hurt people now."
Padme laughed, leaning closer to Veronica, winking. "So do I, actually." She hugged her friend, her chin on her shoulder. "I feel like I'm the lucky one, with so many friends here with me."
Susan was very happy for both of them, especially Jay. He'd been through a lot, and Susan was glad to see him happy. She knew Jon felt the same, so it was with a happy heart that they attended the wedding.
"Really well," replied Susan. "Oh, you make such a lovely bride. I'm so happy for the two of you, truly I am." Susan had begun to look forward to island weddings, for they had all been very special.
Padme flushed, looking down at the dress. "Thank you, Susan." She smiled up at her friend, and looked over her shoulder at Jay. "I know that Jay appreciates you being here as much as I do. I honestly don't know what he'd do without the two of you."
Duo came up at Padme's elbow and kissed her cheek.
"Nice ceremony," he said, offering her a grin. He was dressed as nicely as he was sure he was capable of dressing- not jeans and a singlet, at least. Slacks and a nice shirt, with buttons and everything, and the coolest pair of black sandals ever that he felt were entirely appropriate for an island wedding.
Padme smiled back. "Sleeping, thank goodness. But I'm willing to wake her up, just for you." She nodded past him at the baby asleep in the shade. "You've been a blessing since she was born, Duo. And before." Padme smiled up at him, then hugged him impulsively.
"Of course you do," she said, smiling. "And I appreciate it every single time." Her eyes sparkled, and she tucked a long curl behind her ear. "How have you been?"
