He'd been waiting on it for some time, considering that he always figured Jay would sort of beat him to the altar and not the other way around. But he was there and dressed in his very best. Black suit jacket, white shirt, bowtie, and slacks.
"You look lovely, Rob." Padme's lips curved in a smile, and her hand found his. Her own dress was white, of course, and she still didn't come up much past Rob's shoulder.
"Of course I came," Chase promised with a bit of a grin as he extended the folds of paper he'd transcribed for them, just a little piece of poetry about angels and the Doctor had contributed with sketches. "It's for Sola, but it's for both of you too."
"Let's go wake the sleeping princess?" She smiled, and looked down at the paper. "Hold onto it until I get her up?" She half-hugged Chase again, careful not to crumple it. "Thank you, Rob." She moved past him and bent, carefully lifting the baby vertical so that her head rest on her mother's chest, and blue eyes blinked blurrily to life.
Chase held onto it carefully as he smiled warmly and widely at Sola. "Hey, cute stuff," he greeted the child, brushing a little of her hair to the side. "She's still always gonna be the milestone for me. First baby delivered in this place."
Sola grinned, babbling half-words, trying to squirm away from her mother towards Chase.
"I think she's the first baby who was entirely island born." Her mouth quirked into a smile, pressing a kiss to Sola's head as her daughter grabbed at his hand with both of her own.
Chase laughed at that as he offered his hand out to be sacrificed while they spoke. "You and Bridget were the first two. Because at that point, you didn't get to choose between an array of doctors. You got stuck with me."
"Because I chose you." Her brow rose. "Well, Jay, really. But there were other doctors there, and we specifically wanted you to be there." She lifted Sola up higher, her babbles more formed. "Chz!"
Chase eased Sola into a supported position, smiling warmly as he rocked her gently and easily. "Jay's a great man," he said, believing it completely and wholly, like he hadn't believed much else in his whole life.
"Oh, I know. He's... He's everything." She skimmed her fingers over Sola's head, inhaling slowly before looking back at Chase. "Amazing, isn't it? That everything's worked out?"
"It really is," he said, and he was glad for the both of them. "I'm just glad Jay's finally getting everything he wants and I'm glad you're happy too."
"Rob," said Jay, and didn't really even bother with anything else, grabbing him and pulling him into a tight hug. And for a couple seconds, he didn't say anything else. Couldn't really managed to, and he finally released him, cleared his throat.
"We made it," he said, though to who he was referring, it wasn't clear.
Chase was a little surprised by the hug, but he shifted and wrapped his arms around Jay tightly, smiling to himself. "Didn't think it'd be this easy, almost two years ago, huh," he added quietly.
"Can't say I did," Jay agreed. "Hell, after... after Julia," he said quietly, in low undertones, "I didn't plan to ever love anyone again. And look here, two more trues loves and a whole bunch of true friends."
And he even had a gift.

It wasn't quite his name, but it was close.
