Weddings were becoming more and more common on the island. Evey supposed it was a mark of the way that people were really building new lives, which was encouraging, and in this particular case, beautiful. Padme had dealt with so much here and to see her marry Jay was wonderful.
She stood at the edge of the crowd while Marcus got them both something to drink, wearing the floral dress that still reminded her vaguely of a couch. She smiled as she looked around at the number of people who had come to wish Padme, Jay and Sola well.
Evey laughed when Padme hugged her. "Of course I did! I wouldn't have missed this for anything! You look beautiful, too."
She was very impressed with how well Padme had altered the dress, especially since she knew what it had originally looked like and how much work would have been needed.
Rogue had worn a green dress and made Ned brush up a little so he would look presentable while he slouched around the wedding and she hit the reception line, which actually meant tracking the bride and groom down.
She smiled at Jay when she caught up with him, reaching out to touch his elbow to catch his attention.
Jon was prouder than he could ever express to stand beside his friend as he said his vows. Jay and Padme both were dressed exceptionally well, but it was the happiness on their faces that made them both shine, and Jon found he could scarcely keep a smile off his face either.
When the ceremony was over he went to find the happy couple, kissing Padme on the cheek and wrapping Jay in a warm embrace. "Congratulations to you both," he said sincerely. "I couldn't be happier for you."
"Thank you, Jon." Padme was smiling so wide her face might hurt later, but that didn't stop her from squeezing Jon's hand. "We're so happy you could be here with us."
"Oh, a night alone, and then we're coming back to get Sola and have it just be the three of us for a bit." She smiled so wide her eyes crinkled at the edges. "It'll be... good. To just have some time to ourselves."
