It was Pam’s turn to take care of her.

Jim lazed about on the couch as she entertained Sam nearby. He knew he ought to get up and take a proper nap in the room - Pam wouldn’t care - he just didn’t feel like getting up. So the couch it was, and it wasn’t even that uncomfortable either ( Read more... )

"Hey Jim, hey Pam," Keith said, walking into the room. "'Allo, Sam-antha," he said, his voice significantly changed from his talking-to-adults voice.

Although, admittedly, it depended on the adult.

Pam looked up at Keith from her new position on the couch with a weak smile.

"Hi." Normally she'd be more talkative, but.. today she was worried. What if Samantha really was sick? They didn't really have anything to give her to help her..

Jim offered his own half grin to the older man. It took him a second to realize someone who might possibly be able to help actually just walked into the room.

"Hey, Keith?" he asked. "Does Sam look sick to you?"

There was no harm in asking. He had raised a kid, after all.

"Let's take a look," Keith said, crouching down to take a look at Sam, offering her a finger to play with while he did so. "What makes you think she's sick?"

Paranoid list of several minor symptoms in three, two...

It was not Simon's day for clinic duty, but he found himself in the Compound regardless. Without Crime or bullet wounds or the state of River's mind to trouble himself over during the day, he found himself with a rather large portion of free time on his hands. Free time which he thought the bookshelf might help.

As he walked into the rec room, Simon smiled to the Halperts. "Hello," he greeted. "How are you all today?"

"Hello, Dr. Tam," she replied, nudging Jim in the ribs with her elbow when she saw River's brother walk in. After Dr. Fraser had disappeared, they'd had to find a new doctor for themselves and Samantha, so they were glad when River's brother had come back. Or.. showed up.

She glanced over at Jim, then looked pointedly back at Simon. Ask him.

Of course he had to be the one to ask. But hell, he was actually as worried as Pam was about it.

"We're good, but uh, we were actually going to see if we could find you," he explained, glancing over at Pam. "We think Sam might be getting sick. Could you take a look?"

"Sick?" Simon echoed, eyebrows pulling together in a slight frown of concern. He stepped forward, movements confident but calm as he visually examined the baby and gently placed the back of his hand against her forehead. "What are her symptoms?"

Padme looked like- well, walking dead would spring to the mind of anyone who watched horror movies, but she just looked tired. It'd been a long night- there was only so much you could do with someone who didn't understand Basic, and wouldn't stop crying-

Sola was finally asleep. Finally, and it was what- eight in the morning? Ten? Noon? Padme didn't even know anymore.

"Hi." One word, before Padme sat in the chair next to the couch. "How're you?"

Pam greeted Padme quietly, not looking at her immediately. When she finally did, her eyes went wide.

"Are you okay?" Padme looked like hell, if she was totally honest, and it made Pam wonder if she looked like that, too.

Jim only glanced over when Pam made it obvious something was amiss. Poor Padme looked like she was wiped out, and he wondered if he ought to hand Sam over to Pam and go see if she needed him to get something for her. For the moment, he just sort of frowned worriedly toward her.

"Just a long night." She rubbed her eyes with her hand, and sighed softly. "How's Sam doing?" She avoided saying something like Just you wait until Sam knows enough that she will stay up just because she can stay up, and can't tell you what's wrong, and just keeps crying-

Not what they needed to hear.
