Like a woman denied her Japanese bakery!
Everything went according to
schedule, even left work ten minutes early because I finished my work. Get to the bakery and what do I find? A new sign. This one saying that the store was temporarily closed until further notice due to emergency construction.
WTF? I am so disappointed. :(
I really wish I'd called them this morning, something that did occur to me but I figured - Hey, their sign said they'd reopen at 10 a.m., why not trust them? Because otherwise I could have gone to Chinatown and gotten something from the bakery there. I could probably still go now but it'd be a tight squeeze. My mom told me to, "GIVE UP!" Apparently she hasn't had an easy morning either. My mom makes this awesome smoked chicken that nobody else makes because it's so labor intensive and my sister asked after it. Only, when my mom went to make it this morning she discovered my dad had thrown out her portable electric burner (because it was old) so she had to run around to all sorts of stores trying to find a replacement. Apparently they're not as common anymore as gas burners are in. So, she completely sympathized and said my sister was just unlucky.
I guess so. But I'm still annoyed. I WANTED TO TAKE HOME MOCHI! And not just the normal mochi which they make so deliciously but also the persimmon mochi, the pumpkin mochi, the mochi where the red bean is on the outside and the mochi's inside, and the pound cake with the white bean inside and the . . . okay, I have to let this go. I'll get over it. I just don't know when. *lip quivers*
