Like a woman denied her Japanese bakery!

Everything went according to schedule, even left work ten minutes early because I finished my work. Get to the bakery and what do I find? A new sign. This one saying that the store was temporarily closed until further notice due to emergency construction ( Read more... )

Ooh, I tell you what: I never go out to Blaine's shop and randomly choose a tool that looks well-used and on its last legs and throw it away. If he ever discards one of my kitchen tools without asking first... *sees red*

Am so sorry about the stupid store! They don't deserve your money, and for your inconvenience they should give you a subscription to the mochi-of-the-month club.

Good lord! *drooools* I've never heard of those kind of mochi desserts. OK. Now I really feel your pain.

Yes! They have ALL sorts of mochi (and other wagashi) goodness in their store. What they show online and what they have available for mail-order isn't nearly as diverse as what they actually carry in-store. For these sorts of things, you really do have to go to a real Japanese bakery. Sadly, DC is lacking in this area. It's mostly Chinese and Korean. That's why this would've been so special!
