Hee Soo got up early that day. She had to deliver some of the entrance papers in her university since it wouldn’t be long before it would start.

“Good morning” Hee Soo greeted. Her stepmother was already in the living room having breakfast.

“Good morning, sweety. You are so early today.”

“Yes, I have to go to the university and take care of the last details before classes start.

“Your father was extremely proud of you when he heard you got in, Hee Soo.”

“I know he did” The girl answered, smiling.

“Good morning mom, good morning little sis.” Yoochun entered the living room, cheerful as always. Hee Soo gave him a death glare. She hated him to call her like that.

“Why are you so early?” The girl asked.

“You said you were going to the university today, right? I’ll take you there”

Twenty minutes later, both of them left the house, heading for Yoochun’s car and leaving for the university.

Yoochun finaly broke down the long and awkward silence, turning the car’s stereo on.

“Is something the matter?” Yoochun asked at last  “Hey, Hee Soo?”

“Can you focus on the road ahead?”

A cold answer.

“What is wrong with you?”

“Nothing”

“C’mon, I think I know you long enough to know that something is wrong with you.” The boy insisted

“If you know me that well, then you might as well guess what got me mad!”

“Why? Was it because of me? What did I do?” The boy asked, surprised.

“You know perfectly well that I hate for you to call me ‘little sis’, or don’t you?”

The boy smiled a little at that “So that was the reason? But you know that with my mom there…”

Hee Soo interrupted him suddenly “I call you Yoochun instead of ‘brother’ and she doesn’t find it odd! Yoochun, we are everything BUT brothers. That’ why it bothers me that you pretend to be a caring brother in front of our parents and then come to me and feel me up in the bedroom!”

“Hey, hey, calm down! I promise I won’t say it again… geez.”

“What?”

“You made me feel like a pervert now…” The boy pouted.

“Good, because you are one” Retorted the girl

“You feel me up too!”

“We are here” Hee Soo opened the car’s door as soon as the car stopped and left, while Yoochun was still arguing. Alone though.

“Yah! Hee Soo! Don’t think you won the argument just because you changed the topic. Hee Soo!”

Yoochun got out of the car quickly, not noticing that someone was passing by and hitting the person with the car’s door, making the guy’s books fall on the ground.

“I’m sorry. Here, let me help” Yoochun apologized as quick as he could. “Are you hurt?”

“It’s okay, it was not on purpose and I am not injured” The boy reassured Yoochun, while adjusting his glasses.

“Are you a freshman here?” The younger one asked

“I will be starting next week. You are too?” The boy inquired.

“Not me, my sister. I’ll be a freshman in the Arts university, down the road.”

Seeing that Yoochun was taking a long time to follow her, Hee Soo went back and saw him talking to the stranger, deciding to approach them.

“What are you doing, Yoochun?”

“Sorry. I accidently hit him with the car’s door and was apologizing” Yoochun explained.

“Is she the sister you were talking about?” The unknown boy suddenly asked

“Yes, that’s her.”

“Nice to meet you. My name is Yunho. Jung Yunho.” As the boy introduced himself, Hee Soo did the same, bowing politely.

“Hi. I’m Han Hee Soo.”

“Well, I think we will see each other often in the future, I hope we can get along.”

“Sure.”

Yunho left both brothers and disappeared at once. The girl was a surprised at the boy’s attitude, but soon enough her thoughts were left behind as she started chatting with Yoochun.

Yunho kept going, leaving the two brothers talking with each other. He could not help but smile at the innocence of the two. She didn’t even recognized him since the last time in Bora Bora which was actually understandable, given the fact that he looked different. He had changed his usual style and gone for a college student look. It was definitely not a surprise that neither of them would even suspect of his intentions.

***

Hee Soo did what she had to do and soon enough the two brothers got into Yoochun’s car again.

“Do you wanna go somwhere else?” He asked

“Did you take your day off so you could be my driver?” The girl was obviously being her silly self.

“It wouldn’t hurt for you to be nicer, Hee Soo. No, I did not take the day off so I can be your driver, I took the day off so I could be with you, so if you don’t have anything else to do, do you want to go out?”

“I don’t know. I had nothing in mind for today”

Yoochun thought for awhile before speaking again.

“Do you want to go watch a movie? We can go shopping while we wait it and afterwards we can eat as many popcorn as we can handle. What do you think?” The boy  was definitely hyper by the time he finished sharing his idea.

“Did you do something?” The girl asked suspiciously “You are being too mushy and generous. Since when do you like shopping for fun? Did you do something and are being nice before I find out?”

Yoochun awed in disbelief. How could she think something like that? “When did I ever did that?”

“When you went clubbing and I found you flirting with some girl” Hee Soo gave the boy a glare after saying those words. Yoochun pretty much gave up afterwards.

***

Yunho headed towards the parking lot where he had left his car. After opening the back door, the boy looked for his black sports bag. Opening its zipper, he took out a white shirt, a black necktie and a black leather jacket. Yunho took of his sweater, changing it for his white shirt, buttoning it all up and putting his necktie also.

Tossing his sweater inside his bag, the boy pushed it aside in his backseat.

While doing it, Yunho felt like someone was nearing him. Those were not the steps of a common person because a common person would not walk that way. He could hear the steady and quick steps, almost soundless but only because his training allowed him to further develop his senses.

The man kept his back facing the upcomming stranger, pretending to keep what he was doing and at the same time preparing himself.

When he felt that the distance was short enough, he spinned quickly and grabbed his attacker’s wrist that easily got free of his grip, performing a quick move that made Yunho lean against his car, with one arm immobilized behind his back.

“Is this the way to greet people, Kang Woo?” A young boy asked

“Junsu, you brat! What do you think you are doing?”

“That’s my line. Do you attack everyone that comes near you? Aren’t you glad it was me?”

Yunho rolled his eyes “Do you mind letting me go? There are people looking.”

“You’re no fun, Yunho” The boy then released the man’s arm and crossed his arms, slightly pouting.

“That’s Yunho hyung for you, brat” Said the elder, hitting the boy’s head with his hand.

“Hey! Why did you hit me in the head?”

“Because you heve nothing inside it. Just look at this! Got my shirt dirty.” Yunho tried to brush off the dust in it. “And what are you doing here anyway?”

“University application.” Yunho opened his eyes wide at the boy’s answer. “Yes, my father made me change my mind. He says I need to keep studying even if I don’t really know what is the purpose anyway, since it has nothing to do with what I will be doing In the future.”

“It can be a benefit for you one day” Yunho tried to bring Junsu to the reason.

“You don’t believe your own words and want me to believe them? This future or that future, it doesn’t really matter. How about you? Keep acting like an ‘ahjusshi’ while being only five years older than me. You know my future is not in whatever I’ll study, don’t you hyung?”

While Yunho though so too, he wouldn’t let Junsu know that, so he insisted. “Even so. You have the means, so take the chance. Knowing won’t hurt you, Junsu.”

“You are right, hyung. Another thing that wouldn’t hurt would be for you to get some taekwondo lessons, really. If you need a teacher, talk to me and I’ll give you a discount.” Teased the youngest while the elder just tried to hit him again, failing. “Now, now… it won’t do you any good to lose again since it will only further hurt your ego.

“For an eighteen year old you are incredibly cocky and self-centered. Where are you headed?”

“For the headquarters” The boy said “I’m going to see my father. Can you give me a ride?”

“Didn’t you bring your precious motorbike?” Yunho inquired, quirking an eyebrow.

“I’m saving it for next week when I make my big entrance at college”

“I really can’t bear to hear you… Oh, by the way, what college did you get into?”

“Arts. Why?”

“Nothing much. I have a friend there.” Junsu smiled coyly “What?”

“How many days does that friend has left?” Junsu asked

“Plenty, I guess. It’s not him I’m interested in, it’s his sister. Now stop making questions and get into the car. I’ll give you a ride.”

In about twenty minutes, both of them got to the headquarter’s location. Yunho drove his car through the underground parking space where other luxury cars were parked. After leaving the car, both of them headed to the elevator.

“It seems like everyone is here.” Junsu said matter of factly.

The elevator doors then opened and the boy pressed the button for the 15th floor while Yunho pressed the one for the 13th.

“Not talking to my father today?”

“I already did.” The elder one quickly answered.

“Are you staying, or going elsewhere?”

“I’m staying. Why?”

“Let’s make a party. Everyone is here, what do you think? Maybe a pajama party?” Junsu said as a joke, which Yunho took very much seriously.

The older one had a somewhat stupefact look on his face. “Remind me of your age, please.”

“Eighteen” Junsu said.

“And what do you do for a job?”

“Mmmmm… let’s see… it’s not just one thing, but I can define myself as a professional assassin, inside man and martial arts expert. Why?”

“And you have delirious ideas with ‘pajama parties’? Oh yes, I can really imagine Heechul acceptiong your proposition”

Junsu kept in silence for awhile before starting again. “Not Heechul, okay? That guy gives me the creeps.”

Meanwhile the elevator stopped at the 10th floor and its doors opened, revealing two male figures before Junsu and Yunho. One of the men was clearly shorter than the other, a devilish look in his eyes and a cocky smile, a perfect face and white skin making a contrast whith his bright red hair. His bangs reached his eyes and the rest of the hair was carefully tied back in a ponytail.

The other man was taller and had a more athletic build eventhough he was younger. Light brown hair, not short but not long either, with tiny braids going from the front to the back looking slightly messy and yet stilish. He had a straight face and a deep look in his eyes.

Yunho and Junsu stopped talking as soon as they recognized the men and as both of them got into the elevator too.

“Heechul… Changmin. You guys are here too, huh?” Junsu was not pleased at the sight of the two brothers and that was obvious.

A stupid and disturbing silence took place and for a moment time could have frozen there. Junsu would whisper something to Yunho in order not to be heard by the other two.

The elevator stopped at the 13th floor and Yunho left, saying goodbye to Junsu.

“Enoki said you are going to college. Still a hardworking boy, Junsu?” Changmin said in a more than displeasing way.

“Looks like it”

Short answers would do just fine, Junsu thought.

“And what are they going to teach you there? I heard you are going to learn music. Don’t tell me you are going to quit and become an artist?” Changmin kept pushing.

“And what do you care about what I do?”

“Just quit. It’s better than keep givin Enoki headaches with all your beginner’s mistakes.”

That was it. Junsu had it enough from that sly bastard.

“I am going to pretend I didn’t hear what you said and you will be smart and shut up before I put you on your knees begging me for forgiveness. I’m here longer than all of you even if I’m young and each and every one of you owes me respect if not for who my father is, at least for the fact that I’ve been here for seventeen years.

If you want to talk, look for someone who is interested in listening to you.”

The elevator finally stopped and the three man went out and through the corridor until they reached Enoki’s office door. Junsu went in first and greeted his father.

After breifly talking to his father, he left the room, leaving his father with Changmin and Heechul and heading for his apartment, just one floor below.

As soon as the boy went down the stairs, he saw someone going up.

“Jaejoong!” Yelled Junsu

Jaejoong looked up and smilled.

“I haven’t seen you in a month. What have you been up to?” Asked the youngest.

“I came back yesterday, but you were out.” The blonde answered.

“Yah, Jaejoong, let’s go out? Please? I’m really bored. Everyone is here and no one gives a damn about me. C’mon let’s go to the club!”

Junsu was clearly excited, but Jaejoong was not a fan of that idea.

“Don’t you have work tomorrow? Is not the reason you are here?”

Junsu knew what kind of work his friend was talking about, but didn’t think much of it.

“It’s only later at night, so it’s okay. Come on! Besides, I bet you haven’t seen Si Yeon yet, right?"

The younger knew exactly the right arguments to make Jajeoong accept his offer to go to the club and eventually the man agreed to his dongsaeng’s idea.

“Is Yoon Ki here? Maybe we should tell him to go with us. He does need to be more sociable”

“Sure. The more the merrier. I’m going to talk to Yunho, taking care of some stuff and then we can meet up at the underground parking, okay?”

Not even an hour after Junsu started nagging Yunho to go out with him, Jaejoong and Yoon Ki, the man was preparing to leave. He was out of the bath and picking his outfit.

After finishing getting dressed, he took his car keys and took the elevator.

Jajeoong, Junsu and Yoon Ki were already waiting for him.

Looking at the four or them, it was clear that they would be the sexiest vision the club’s customers would have that night.

Yoon Ki was reserved and not even Yunho knew how Jaejoong had been able to persuade the man into going along that night. Eventhough he was mysterious and did not talk much, he had a very strong charisma.

Jaejoong had a very peculiar style. Hair dyed in an absurdly flashy blond, incredibly deep eyes and an almost scary stare that made it impossible for anyone to guess what he was thinking at anytimes.

At last, Junsu, eventhough he was the youngest, he possessed something that captivated people. Athletic build and a smile that would leave many girls sighing, he had long and blond hair which he carefully tied up in a ponytail, leaving some of his bangs at the front and left-side.

Yes, he was an atractive boy, but that was not the reason why he was so popular. Maybe it was that kind of mix between his masculine personality and his boyish and innocent look that really made people fall for him.

***

‘Purple Line’.

Probably the biggest and most famous night club in Seoul. The place where anyone that had at least some social status in that town would want to be. Every night the club would be full and eventhough the access was restrict in certain occasions, anyone that had money to spend would go there.

I was rather frequent to see Junsu or Jaejoong in there whenever they had any free time.

At the precise moment that the four of them got in, theh were immediately welcomed by those who knew and admired them and by those who not knowing the boys, could not stop their amazement at such popularity.

Jaejoong headed straight for the bartender at the bar.

“Yo! Is my sister around here?” The boy asked the bartender

“She is in her dressing room preparing.”

“Thanks.”

Jaejoong went back and through the corridor that would lead him to his sister’s dressing room, knocking as soon as he got there.

“Yes?”

“Are you dressed?”

“Oh my God, get in!!” He heard the girl screaming.

Jaejoong got in as told and soon enough his sister was grabbing his neck and hugging him tightly.

“Hey, Si Yeon stop grabbing my neck like that!”

“You have not called in three days. Do you know how worried I was? I thought something had happen.” The girl sighed after saying that, still not letting go of her brother.

“Alright, alright, I’m sorry but I really couldn’t call you. Besides, I came to see you now so can you give me a break?”

The boy begged her and she smiled, hugging him once more. “I missed you, oppa.”

“Did something happened when I was away?” His face hardened when asking his sister.

“No.” Jaejoong kept staring at the girl “I swear. Everything was fine. I just missed you a lot.”

“Did Enoki came here?”

The girl nodded “He is the owner. Of course he would come.”

“Did he talk to you, said anything?”

“Just greeted me. As a boss would at his employee:”

“I’m glad. I don’t want that guy near you” Jaejoong stated “It’s bad enough for you to have to be here.”

“It’s alright, I’m used to it now.”

Jaejoong suddenly interrupted his sister, making his voice deeper.

“The thing is you don’t have to get used to it. Si Yeon, you are my sister, I want to protect you and yet I can do nothing for you. If it wasn’t for me you wouldn’t be-“

“Stop that! It’s not your fault, okay? What happened was not your fault. You too, you are not here because you wasn’t too, Jaejoong. Just stop thinking like that, okay? Now give me a hug.”

The boy obbeyed his younger sister and both of them remained huggung until someone reminded Si Yeon that her show would start soon enough.

Going back to the bar, where Yunho was, Jaejoong noticed that Junsu was already on the dance floor, impressing the girls. Yes, he was popular and he knew it. After all he loved to be the main attraction.

“Where is Yoon Ki?” Jaejoong asked Yunho

“Bathroom”

After asking for a drink, which was quickly delivered by the barman, Yunho started on another topic.

“Did you see Si Yeon? I told you she was fine.”

“Yeah, I know. Thanks for watching over her when I was not here.

“Don’t mention it.” Yunho brushed off the topic before the conversation got melodramatic. He knew how Jaejoong, that looked cool and distant on the outside, had a softspot as far as Si Yeon was concerned.

Suddenly the music changed into a more upbeat and sexy tune. The bright lights lit up the stage and Si Yeon entered. It was the highlight and the main performance. The girl was a dancer, and an incredible one at that. It was not dirty, not meant to be vulgar, since she was ‘Purple Line’s main star and the place had class.

Si Yeon was a gorgeous woman and no one could dance like her. Her brother looked from his seat and gave her a smile which she returned with a small wink. What Jaejoong didn’t like was some of the comments that a group of men, by that time already drunk, were shoutting. Si Yeon’s brother got up his seat and approached them.

“I am going to ask you to leave.” The boy politely said

“Who the hell you think you are to make us leave? Are you the owner?”

“If you were a smart person, you would know that it is better for you to do what I am saying while I am still asking politely.”

“Why would we leave? We are enjoying the show.”

“She is not for your eyes. Now leave” Jaejoong was clearly getting agitated but still the men wouldn’t bulge.

“And what if I don’t want to leave?”

Jaejoong was never calm and collected like Yoon Ki or even Yunho. He was hot-headed and impatient and those guys were getting on his nerves. “I am going to make sure you’ll leave, believe me. What I can’t guarantee is that you leave in on piece.”

Jaejoong’s eyes could be pretty intimidating and the group of men eventually gave up and left the club.

Meanwhile, the blond got back to where Yunho was, now with Yoon Ki also.

“Bravo. You’ve made them leave without some broken bones. You are progressing, Jaejoong.” Yoon Ki mocked

“I am an educated person. These type of guys are the ones that make my life difficult.”

“You know these things will always happen. You can’t expel every guy that look at Si Yeon.”

“She is my sister Yoon Ki, you know what that is?”

“I don’t know. If I have any sister, I sure can’t recall.” Retorted Yoon Ki, smiling but there was anguish in his voice.

“A sense of protection. Wanting to protect those you love and fail at the end. I know how you feel, Jaejoong and don’t worry, you are doing a great job with Si Yeon.” Complimented Yunho.

Junsu had come back from the dance floor, slightly panting and asked for a drink.

“Yah, Junsu! You are not allowed to drink. Give him a glass of milk or something” Jaejoong ordered the barman.

“Don’t listen to him and give me what I’ve asked for.” Junsu insisted.

Jaejoong looked at the boy with a disaproving look in his eyes, but Junsu just smiled. “Hyung, there are things that I should not be doing if I took my age into consideration and they are a lot worse than drinking alcohol.”

Jaejoong had no answer. There wasn’t one because Junsu was right.

When did that boy started getting so good with words?

The three of them remained near the bar. They drank and eventually Junsu managed to drag them into the dance floor also. As everyone around got agitated as soon as the three started dancing, Junsu was faster and soon enough found a girl with whoom he started dancing in a more than daring way.

Yunho couldn not keep from smiling when he looked at his junior and at the girl’s reaction after Junsu’s daring moves. That was when he saw someone right across the dancing floor, looking at him and slightly waving at him.

“Yoon Jae…” Yunho let out a sigh.

She was the last person that he expected to see in there. He was surprised, but more than that he wanted to forget that she existed. She made him depressed. Reminded him of a past that tormented him and that he wanted to deny that was real, because everytime he looked at her he kept seeing ‘him’ reflected in her eyes. The one he loved most in this world and that he was not able to protect…
