“Hee Soo! Are you going to take any longer, honey? I do not want to be late.” Hee Soo’s father screamed from the middle of the living room, high enough to be heard in the entire house.
Hee Soo was a “lazybone” like his father liked to call her, but the truth was that she almost did it on purpose. It was fun to see how her father, who was usually so calm could get so anxious when the topic was Ms. Park.

“Calm down, father. I’m ready,” beamed the girl.

“You know I don’t like to be late for my appointments. When are you going to learn that being on time is…” Started the man, being then interrupted by his daughter.

“… an essencial trait of a strict person,” She finished, smiling, “I know that, but don’t you think I’m too young to be strict? I’m only seventeen.”

“It does no good to argue with you, really. You are too stubborn”

“Do you recognize the personality? I am as stubborn as you are,” The girl simply smiled, as she looked at her father’s defeated expression.

“Yes, yes. Let’s hurry up before they arrive at the restaurant before we do.” The man said, starting to leave the room.

“What is the hurry this time? Ms. Park and Yoochun are not going to run away.”

Hee Soo followed her father quickly. Both of them got into the car, driven by the family’s driver and did not take too long until they arrive at the restaurant.

As always, Hee Soo could not stop her amazement each time she came to such a luxurious restaurant.

Everything in there sparkled. The refinement was high and few people had the possibility of even standing at the front door for that matter. It was impossible to go in without booking it first and without proper clothing. The place was huge and even had an upper floor, usually reserved for those who prefered a little more privacy.

Casting away her thoughts, Hee Soo concentrated her attention on the receptionist that welcomed them.

“Yes, we have your reservation. A table for four, reserved in the name of Han Dae Ro, correct?” The man read. “Allow me to take you to your seats.”

“Is it possible for you to tell me if anyone has asked for me yet?” The older one asked.

“No sir. No one.”

“Luckily. Well them, show us to our seats” Dae Ro ordered the man.

“I told you.”

“You were lucky. If they had already arrived, you would have embarassed me.”

Ten minutes was all that both of them had to wait until the two people for whom they were waiting arrived.

Hee Soo saw Ms. Park first. As always, she was elegant and had a bright smile on her lips.

Maybe it was her, but Hee Soo could swear she had never seen a different expression on the woman’s face. Always the constant smile and a warm personality. She was beautiful and it could be said that at the age of 38, she was a woman with an incredible figure.

Looking at the same direction, Hee Soo soon found Ms. Park’s son, Yoochun. She could swear that in the moment they met, some months before, her heart had stopped for a second. He was incredibly handsome, had a delicate yet masculine expression which made some kind of contrast with his athletic build and defined posture.

The girl had always thought he just looked like a rich kid who had his ideas in place and his feet on the ground.

Hee Soo was still thinking when his father’s voice brought her to reality.

“Hee Soo? Are you feeling well?”

“Yes, I am,” The girl said as she got up her chair “It’s nothing.”

The greetings were fast, ending with the loving kiss that Dae Ro gave on Ms. Park’s hand and that made both Hee Soo and Yoochun smile.

As soon as the conversation took place between the two adults, Yoochun decided to make the young girl talk.

“What is going on with you today?” The boy asked, putting his fork and knife aside.

“Hum? Nothing, why?”

“You are not usually so quiet. There’s something bothering you? You look kind of uncomfortable.”

“Actually… my shoes are killing me..” Hee Soo admited, as it was partially true.

Yoochun tried to restrain his laughter and the wish to throw his head back and laugh out loud.

“Didn’t you know they didn’t fit you before bringing them?”

“I like them too much” Retorted the girl, with a cute voice.

“Well, there is something I don’t understand. Why do girls like to sacrifice themselves just to look pretty?”

“Well, it does not have much of an explanation. It’s genetic.”

“Take them of,” Yoochun suggested “Under the table no one will see.”

Hee Soo though about it for awhile and eventually did it.

Both of them were having a good time, chatting with each other as their parents looked, amazed by the fact that they got along so well.

“I am trully happy to see how close they are” Soo Mi commented

“True enough. In fact, they encourage me with their cumplicity.” At that moment, Dae Ro got up and asked for everyone’s attention. “I apologize for interrupting your meal, but today is a special day for me and I’d like to share my joy with everyone here. One year ago I met this wondeful woman and I was blessed by the fact that she even took her time to look at me.That being said, and before our children’s eyes, I want her to know that everything I have promised her is true and that there is something I would like her to give me.

Soo Mi, will you marry me?”

Hee Soo and Yoochun looked at each other, surprised.

Soo Mi looked at the man who was proposing to her and to her son, sitting at her side, trying to find in him a hint that could tell her what she should do. She received a sincere smile.

“Don’t look at me. He’s waiting for your answer.”

Soo Mi smiled at her son and then looked at Dae Ro and gave him the answer he wanted to hear.

Everyone in the restaurant stood up and gave the soon-to-be-married couple a loud aplause.

Hee Soo just stood up, exposing her bare feet with an embarassed look in her face.

After a pleasant evening, the four left the restaurant. As the couple talked with each other, thoughts of a trip suddenly came up.

“What? A trip tomorrow? Isn’t that a little rash?” Hee Soo states matter of factly.

“You are both on your summer vacation now. It is a good idea.” The girl’s father says, and she has to admit it will be difficult to argue with that.

“Are you afraid you don’t have enough time to pack all your bags?” Yoochun mocked.

“But..”

“Have you even gone somewhere yet?”

“I did.”

“Well, I didn’t, so I agree with the plan. Where are we going? Hawaii, Bora Bora, some lost island in the middle of nowhere?” Yoochun was obviously happy with the idea, unlike Hee Soo.

“I have never gone to Bora Bora” the woman said.

“Well then, it’s settled. We leave tomorrow!” Dae Ro announced.

It’s not like Hee Soo’s oppinion was EVER considered anyway…

The next day, Hee Soo was in a private plane going to a paradisiac island. The trip was long so the girl was planning on reading her book quietly, but for some reason, Yoochun was the total oposite of “quiet” and as he was sitting next to her, the boy kept disturbing Hee Soo.

Did he REALLY have to be so close to her anyway? She was thinking about that when she actually turned her face to ask him and found the boy looking intently at her.

“What are you doing?” She asked.

“’No Return’.” He read on the cover of her book “Do you like that kind of books?”

“I don’t have a specified type of book that like, but the story is interesting.”

“And what are you listening to?” He inquired and the girl just gave him her ear-phones.

“Oh… I had no idea you liked this.”

“You can keep listening if you want.”

“Let’s both listen to it.” Yoochun just kept one ear-phone and put the other in Hee Soo’s ear. Suddenly that proximity felt like too much as the girl was not the least comfortable.

Anyway, she tried not to think much of it and keep reading her book, but that task was almost impossible, even more after Yoochun fell asleep and used her shoulder as a pillow.

“For the love of God, he will be my “brother” soon!” She thought

“Am I bothering you?” Yoochun asked, without opening his eyes and startling the girl.

“I thought you were sleeping.”

“Give another five minutes and I will, but if I’m bothering you, tell me.”

“No, you are not… bothering.” She restrained a sigh and just kept quiet for the rest of the trip.

Finaly they arived at the island and as soon as they got there, they went for the resort where they were going to stay for the next week. It was late, and the trip had been tiring so the idea of sleeping early crossed Hee Soo’s mind. The thing was that Yoochun, that had too much to sleep in the plane, was overly hiperactive to sleep or let Hee Soo sleep, so he decided to go to her room.

“What are you doing here?” She asked, entering the bedroom and seeing the boy.

“Let’s go for a walk.”

“A walk? It’s late in the night.”

“So what? Why can’t we go for a walk at night?” Yoochun had a puppy look in his face that kind of irritated Hee Soo.

“I want to sleep. You’ve slept the whole time until we got here, but I am tired.”

“You should have slept too then.” Hee Soo just wanted to seriously smack him in the head. “Let’s get some fresh air.”

“Go to your room’s balcony and get fresh air. Now get out. See you tomorrow.” Yoochun got pushed out of the room in that instant and not even his pout could make for it.

The door was completely slammed in his face as soon as Hee Soo said her last words. There was nothing to do when she decided on something, so there was only one thing left for him: sleep and wait for the next day.

Early in the morning both of them met at the living room. Hee Soo was already having her breakfast.

“Good morning” Greeted Yoochun

“Good morning”

“Did my mother wake up yet?”

“I haven’t seen them, but my father left a note saying that they would spend the day out” Answered the girl.

“Abandoning their children to go on a date… ok, then! Let’s go and have fun!”

Hee Soo kept reading her newspaper as she finished eating the bowl of cereals, completely ignoring Yoochun.

“You are definitely not thinking about staying here the whole day, are you?”

“What is the problem?”

He was dumblefounded.

“Don’t even think that I’m leaving you here all day. C’mon, go get dressed and let’s go to the beach.” Yoochun draged Hee Soo out, not letting her even say a word. She got dressed for the beach like HE waited and they went to the beach, like HE wanted.

What was fascinating about Yoochun’s personality was his ability to make anyone around him feel at ease after just a short while. Soon after they get to the beach Hee Soo had forgotten the stange thoughts that were haunting her since the beginning of the trip.

They spended their day playing aroung in the beach, Hee Soo started working on her tan and Yoochun had fun with the jet ski.

At the end of the afternoon both of them were lying on the deck chairs, resting. After a while, Hee Soo felt herself falling asleep but that feeling was soon interrupted when she felt something soft and slightly warm touching her lips.

Immediately after opening her eyes, Hee Soo saw Yoochun’s face right in front of hers, his eyes closed and his lips touching her lips.

A sudden fright got over the girl as soon as she thought about the possiblility of someone to see them in such an intimate action and she quickly pulled away from Yoochun’s kiss.

“Are you crazy? What do you think you are doing, Yoochun?” The girl asked, horrified.

“Do you want me to apologize? Sorry, but I can’t do that.”

“Yoochun!”

“It’s stronger than me, I can’t help it. I’m not apologizing because I’m not sorry.” The boy stated.

“Are you insane? What if your mother or my father saw us?” Hee Soo kept going. The boy’s attitude was seriously getting on her nerves.

“Well, in that case, I would have no other choice but to tell them that I like you.”

“Why do you have to play with serious stuff?

“I’m not kidding.”

Hee Soo didn’t want to listen to another word and after picking up her bag and sunglasses, she just left.

From afar, in a small sailing boat, someone observed the scene between the two.

“Oh… the lovebirds had a fight. This is actually like watching a drama unfold,” Laughed the tall man as he reached for his cellphone that started ringing. “Yeah? Oh, you have arrived. Where are you? Okay then, I’ll meet you at night. I’ll send you the map later. See ‘ya.”

On the beach, Hee Soo left hurriedly, going as fast as she could to the resort, not noticing the person in front of her at the dock and colliding with the man.

“I am sorry.” The girl immediately apologized.

“It’s ok, you didn’t hurt me.” Yunho smiled.

At night, both Hee Soo’s father and Jung Min’s mother arrived at the resort, only to find Yoochun, somehow frowning in the living room and talking to himself.

“Yoochun, where is Hee Soo?” His soon-to-be stepfather asked.

“Oh, you are back. She is in her room.”

“Call her please, so that we can have dinner together.”

Yoochun went to Hee Soo’s room. The girl opened the door even before he could open his mouth to say anything.

“Geez, you scared me! How did you know that…” The girl promptly interrupted him

“I heard my father’s voice.” Hee Soo proceeded to leave the room then.

“Are you still mad at me?” Asked Yoochun

“My father hates when people make him wait. Can we have this conversation later?”

“When? You are always running away.” Stated Yoochun. True enough though.

“I don’t feel like talking to you right now, ok?”

Hee Soo passed through the boy, straight to the living room, where her father and Soo Mi were.

“Good night father” She greeted.

“Good night,” Yoochun came right after and took a seat at the table “How was your day?” Her father asked

“ [Awful] ” She thought

“It was good. We went to the beach.” Only Yoochun was answering. Probably scared that Hee Soon’s temper would burst.

“I’m glad you had fun”

“[Oh, yes, it was really fun until your son started molesting me.]” If Hee Soo’s thoughts were daggers at that time, Yoochun would probably be dead. Nonetheless she kept eating quietly.

“Today we rode a boat.” Soo Mi started. “It was a pleasant day.”

“Really? Hey, Hee So, should we do that too?”

Hee Soo glared at the boy. Daggers launch: start!!

“She can’t. Our Hee Soo is scared of deep waters.” Her father explained.

“So that’s why you didn’t ride the jet ski!”

“Bravo! You finally found out.”

After that, an awkward silence filled the room, while both of them kept arguing even without saying a word.

“ [Yah, what is wrong with you?]” Jung Min just stared and kicked her under the table.

“ [You idiot, stop kicking me!!]”

“Isn’t the table shaking?”

Both of them froze and looked at the girl’s father. “Huh?”

After dinner, Yoochun went to Hee Soo’s bedroom so that they could finally settle things.

After receiving permission to enter, he saw her sitting on a chair, reading a book.

“Can we talk?” The boy started.

“Talk.” Her tone was oblivious, almost uncaring.

“I want to talk to you, but I also want you to talk to me. Can you put the book aside for five minutes?”

Hee Soo closed her book and left it on the top of her desk. “What is it?”

Yoochun sighed.

“Ok, I understand the hostility, but I realy wanted to explain what happened at the beach.”

“I’m listening”

Yoochun walked further into the room and got himself a seat.

“In all truth, the explanation is quite simple and short. Despite you not believing when I told you, I like you. That’s why I kissed you,” He was calm. Too calm.

“You can’t like me! We are going to be brothers!” Hee Soo beamed.

“Well, the law can give us that status but we will never be brothers. We don’t share the same blood, we have different parents.”

“Our parents see us as brothers.”

“Do you see me as a brother, Hee Soo?” A sudden question. Too sudden for Hee Soo to process. “I see you as a normal girl. I don’t see you as a sister.”

“Are you out of your mind? My father…” She started

“Don’t you like me?” And again, another sudden question. The girl could not make her head think straight. “I asked if you don’t like me. As a man.”

“I don’t think this conversation makes any sense.” Hee Soo got up from her chair and walked to the balcony, opening the window. Yoochun followed her.

“Are you going to answer my question?”

“I don’t know what you want me to say.” She was confused, startled and in no condition of thinking straight.

“Okay, then. Don’t say a thing. I’ll look for the answer instead.”

“I don’t even want to ask how”

“In five seconds I am going to kiss you. I am going to do it like I did this afternoon and I am warning you before doing so. You can avoid my kiss or push me if that’s not what you want, but if you do nothing, I am going to take that as a yes. 5, 4, 3, 2…” Yoochun started closing the gap between them.

“Wait…”

“1…”

Yoochun kissed Hee Soo once again, but this time took her waist with one of his hands and caressed her neck with the other while kissing her.

She knew that wasn’t right, that he was going to be her “brother” in a matter of months, but still she felt incredibly atracted to him. She didn’t know if it was love, passion or just lust, but whatever that was, she couldn’t stop feeling that way and so decided to just go along with it.

Outside the resort, yet again someone was watching.

“They made up! Aren’t they supposed to be more discreet?”

“What have you got for me?”

The first jumped as soon as he heard the other’s voice.

“Geez, Yunho! From where did you appear?”

“Did I scare you?” The taller asked in a mocking way.

“With that face, you can scare anyone” It was obviously a lame comeback.

“So? What you got?”

Jaejoong handed Yunho a file.

“Han Hee Soo, seventeen, only daughter and heir of the big boss, Han Dae Ro. The man is as wealthy as it can be and is one of the most influent man in the country. The cuttie here is a highschool student, wants to get into the best korean college and can you imagine? We are looking at a prosecutor-wanabe!

She’s the daddy’s sweety, likes to read, likes flowers and thinks that actions are worth more than words. As you can see her relationship with her brother is not so… brotherly. Calm, quiet, has a terrible fear of boats and deep waters. She fell once and nearly died.

Anyway, it’s all in there. Take it.”

“Thank you. Great job as always. Now tell me what colour her underwear is, and the report is completed.” Suggested Jaejoong.

“They are black. If I remember correctly.”

The taller one stared at his co-worker with an impressed look in his face. “Pervert.”

“It’s not my fault that she undresses near the window. Anyway, you are really taking this assignment? This won’t be easy”.

“Did I ever refused a mission? Of course I’m taking it. Besides, it’ll be fun to play with her.” Said Yunho, obviously amused.

“You think? And how it’s going to be? Are you starting now?”

“No. There’s many things to work on before. This one has to be carefully done.”

“Am I the only one who thinks this case is special for Enoki?” Asked Jaejoong

“I don’t know and I don’t care. I’m just doing what they pay me to do. Anyway, thanks for the report. Are you going to “disappear” again, or do I see you in the next days?”

“No, I am going back to Seoul. Enoki gave me some time off from work. Another person is doing it.”

“Who? He always give those jobs to you. Is it an inside mission too?”

“Junsu is going.”

Yunho smilled. “That makes sense then.”

“Yeah, the kid is not as good as me yet, but has talent.”

“You cocky bastard. Junsu is the best guy the agency has.” Stated Yunho “Besides, can something like this be called a “talent”?”

“Well, even bad things have to be done well for one to be successful. I guess it’s a different kind of talent” Jaejoong tilted his head to the side, trying to explain.

“I guess you can say that… Anyway, talent or not, we are just shadows. In the end this is just another job…” And he really did believe those words. It would never be any different.
