Oh, god, yes, rant away, rant the fuck away.

A feminist is somebody who believes in equality of the sexes. PERIOD. THE END.
THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

It does not mean a person who looks for misogyny in anything and everything, and spends their time riding a moral high-horse to try to spread their "enlightenment."
Jesus Christ, THIS.

I have listened to so much fucking shit over the years from fucking crazies who say I'm not a feminist and that I'm just fucking brainwashed so they say my opinion isn't valid.

Personally, I could never have an abortion if something happened and I got pregnant (and the only way I would get knocked-ip would be unwillingly) and that's just one of my issues, but I fully say that women can do whatever the fuck they want with their bodies BUT, and this is a big but for me, both sides need to stop panicking so much over fucking abortion and actually work on spreading actual sexual education, how to condom on a penis and take a pill, not just saying 'oh, hey, don't do it' because that doesn't work. Teach women ( ... )

Oh my GOD, it drives me up the fucking wall when I'm told, "Obviously, society has brainwashed these 'values' into you." OBVIOUSLY YOU NEED TO GROW A BRAIN. /facedesk

No, I totally agree with that. It can't be either abstinence or abortion - you're totally right, actual information about sex needs to be taught, either way.

One side is anti-sexual education which would give them what they want, less abortions, and the other side is screaming and screeching and the whole time I'm banging my head against the wall because somewhere real feminists are rolling in their graves.Yes, that RIGHT there ( ... )

I would like to qualify my answer to the 2nd question in the poll (I put No) that I don't mean personally pro-life, as in would never personally get an abortion. I am talking about the women who judge women who choose to get an abortion, tell them they are committing murder, and picket holding photos of mutilated fetuses. I personally can't reconcile a woman who would call herself a feminist and yet try to impose her morals and beliefs onto all other women's bodies.

Also, I would also like a definition for "modern feminism." I tend to try and stay out of online feminism debates in feminism communities and the like since they often give me headaches, so I am not well versed in the subculture that is emerging. So my answer to the last question may not be accurate.

I agree with your stance on question 2. I don't believe that a woman who campaigns for or desires pro-life legislation is a feminist because that means she wants to take autonomy and ability to choose away from other women.

For number two, I basically agree with what gryffinwhore said. =)

I felt weird about choosing my second answer, but it's really the closest to what I believe. I'd hate to say that pro-life people can't be feminists because, really, it's all about how you define yourself. But if someone honestly thinks a woman shouldn't have the right to choose, they're expecting everyone to abide by their personal beliefs and convictions. Anyone who behaves that way is essentially saying that their beliefs are better than other people's, and I don't understand how that view can be compatible with true equality. That's like saying, "Hrm, I respect your ability to think rationally...sometimes. But really, you should just listen to me because I'm right."

Does that make ANY sense? Probably not. But for the record, I share your rage on a lot of the above, heh.

Hey! I'm so glad you decided to have this discussion, because it's not one I can be involved in very often because I always get attacked. But I know that I'm safe with you. I know you'll disagree with me, but you won't hate me, and you'll still let me call myself a feminist, and I can't tell you how much I appreciate that ( ... )
