I Enjoyed Reading Your Book StorieschelsearoadDecember 16 2005, 21:17:41 UTC
And I was reminded of one of my own...once I was stuck in an elevator by myself at the SUBWAY station (a very nasty place). I had a book, so I didn't even get nervous for the first hour...but as I could see I would finish it soon, I did start screaming after that...

:-) Totally understand.
I sometimes make lists in my head regarding which books I would take if a catastrophe of some kind happened. I think I'd always try to pack one tarot deck, one novel and one book with poems or a play. Something that you can learn by heart which helps to pass the time and lets you escape reality.
This just proves what I've always known anyway...you definitely are the most bookish person I know! ;-) Very delightful to read, some habit I've already known, others not...!
If the books belong to me, I'm not a careful reader. I.e. you will see that I've read a book. :-) I don't mind the slighly used look though. Makes my books feel more comfortable. That's why I like borrowing books from you so much...I mean, I don't slaughter them but I don't want to treat them as fragile either. Actually, I first feared you would be like Christine whose books always look like just-bought (pst, don't tell her: she even puts them in a plastic bag before putting in her handbag in order to protect them more; she would never hold a book in only one hand and I really wonder whether she someday starts using a pincette for turning over the pages...) I even think that a certain amount of signs signalling that the book was read (and in this case possibly loved) is preferable to a book where you wonder why it looks so unread...! Gives them a kind of "life"! A propos, thanks for HP, I've finished reading it on the airplane (and it's still quite intact, he he, despite of the beach sand, etc.) ;-)

On to "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix"! You're going to like it, I think. A bit lengthy, but full of lovely teenage angst!
