Auditioning for the Honors Chorus

ddmerillat and I are both auditioning for the Honors Chorus at Harmony College this Summer. They mailed us a song as sheet music and a learning CD. We have to record about two pages of the song and mail them the recording by May 15. They'll let us know two weeks later if we made the cut. They wanted to do an Honors Chorus last year, but they canceled it. In the event of being cut or of class cancellation, I'll take History of Barbershop II, which I've been assured by the instructor doesn't require taking the first course.

I would assume the judges are listening mostly for good tone and good accuracy for both pitch and rhythm. Each track on the learning CD is mixed with one part on the left and the other three on the right. I'm thinking I'll listen just to the right channel for the tenor track in an headphone while recording. That should keep me on pitch and rhythm, and isn't a terrible simulation of keying off of the guys around me in a chorus. Dave is of the opinion that the headphone will distort hearing myself accurately, so we'll have to experiment.
