Audition Recordings Made Easily

ddmerillat and I played with our audition today. The learning CD has one track per voice part. The predominant part is on the left and the other three are on the right. We ripped the disc to Dave's laptop, then imported the tracks into Audacity. The tenor, lead and bari lined up perfectly. We were able to play back just the bari and lead while I practiced tenor and Dave practiced bass.

After a few runs that way, we used Audacity and my Logitech headset to do some recording. We could hear the other parts through the headphones while we sang. To my delight, our recordings sounded about as good as the learning CD did, and I have to assume he was using a much more expensive setup. I didn't detect any sync issues between the playback and the recording. Unsurprisingly, it's a really difficult passage with lots of funky rhythms, so neither of us was entirely happy with today's results. We're both going to give it a few more tries later in the week. Still, we're figuring we'll be among very few applicants who submit two tracks of themselves . . . one solo and one mixed in with the other three quarters of the teaching quartet.
