universe… G1 / IDW or Bayverse is what I'm picturing. If a writer can make it work with another universe that would be fine too, though it's hard for me to picture it with TF:A ( Read more... )

autobots, g1, 2007 movie, prowl, bayverse

This sounds interesting. I might try it. Who are your favorite characters other than the ones you listed.

Is it mandatory that one should be in the hive mind--is it looked down upon if one is not?

Is it constant or can it be turned off?

I was thinking, on peaceful Cybertron it was strongly encouraged after graduating from an Academy to choose a group, kind of like a divergent like society. Once they upgrade to adult its a requirement. There might be some, with extremely good faking skills that could go by without, or some that their function is to watch over the other hive minds from an outside point of view, one that could disconnect and test a new comer or something.

When I think of a hive mind, I think of a group that has thoughts the exact same: we need Energon, we need to repaint, we need a check-up.

This has potential.

I like.

But to play with the Prowl - Outside hive mind:
He doesn't connect because the last hive mind was destroyed to the last bot. (Praxis - thanks to a virus planted by Soundwave).

Blaster is the Autobot firewall - works to keep Soundwave out. Mentally, Blaster is succesful. Physically not so much. Red Alert knows this potential weakness, and keeps adding physical barriers to keep Soundwave's ever seeking viruse carriers/implanters (Laserbeak, Rumble, Ravage, Buzzsaw, Frenzy, etc), out of the all-important C.P.U. systems.

I'm thinking a combination of the two bunnies would work best.

would prowl be an outsider b/c he or the other autobots are afraid he's a carrier of the virus that took down the praxus hive mind? if he was he probably would have been killed by it too, but one could never be too careful. and what about bluestreak? or would this version of him not be from praxus?

He could be immune, battle computer creating coding that stopped the virus.

I was thinking Prowl, while infected by the virus, didn't die.
Either that, or it laid dormant in his systems, and can't take him out.
(No, I think its possible that while not affected by this particular virus-code, RAtchet and the other medics were able to create a firewall/vaccine that eliminated threats from this source. So, no, he's not an outsider because the others are afraid he's got worms).

I hadn't thought about poor Bluestreak.
I suppose, like most viruses and bacterias - even those that can claim near 100 lethality among their victims - there are a scant few mechs who don't die. For whatever reason, the foreign coding didn't kill them.

I need to give the bunny some time, let the implications and everything perculate through my abused brain cells, before I can begin writitng a proper fill.
If you have any scenes you want to see, or suggestions that might work great in this A.U. verse, feel free to share.
I like bouncing ideas off people - and sharing fan-related thoughts with others who enjoy Transformers more than I do.

*mod hat on* with long bunnies like this, please try to put them under a cut to help keep reading pages/friend's pages from getting to cluttered.

*mod hat off* what an interesting idea! there is a lot of space to play with the concepts and identity and dealing with emotion and all sorts of things. :D

No worries! I appreciate that you fixed it. ^_^

I hope someone picks it up too. I had so much potential, but I don't think I could do it justice right now either.

as reasons for prowl not to be a member of the autobot hive mind… that's a doozy, isn't it? assuming that barricade's 'prowler' is in fact the prowl we all know and love.

interesting story…am very curious about how it develops. still not fond of sparklings in general, but the idea that only one city-state uses them (and that that method of reproduction is failing) is a twist i've not seen before and therefore makes it worth it, i think.

can't wait to see more.

I have five more chapters already written, so you have something to read in the next five days

You can comment on AO3, where the story is.
